Default Fragile Fidanza Cam Gears?

I've done a quick search on both the Internet and this site but was not able to find any posts on problems with Fidanza adjustable Miata cam gears. I don't know if this is a problem with the Miata gears, but I did find a lot of people complaining about broken Fidanza cam gears on Dodge Neon sites (supposedly, the second generation Fidanza Neon gears are a little better than the first gen gears). I also found reports of early Fidanza adjustable gears for the modular OHC V8 Fords having serious slippage problems which caused a number of trashed engines due to PTV (unlike the Miata, the modular ford V8s are "interference engines").

Has anyone here had any problems or heard of any problems with the Fidanza Miata gears??? I'd like to try dialing out some of the overlap on my 1.6L stock cams with adjustable cam gears.

Thanks in advance,

Mitch

never heard of anyone having an issue with fidanza gears on a BP

just make sure you torque them to spec, which isnt very tight.

I had a set on a Toyota 4AGE (1.6 DOHC) for 30k+ miles with no issues whatever. I have a set sitting here to go on my BP and the design looks nearly identical (and the locking portion is the same). I don't see any reason they'd work worse.

People have complained about older 3 bolt wheels slipping and coming out of time. I can't imagine that a 5 bolt gear would have this problem--assuming proper use of hardware and application of torque.
