At least you know what to look for :bigtu:

Haha, here in East TN, people want to rip u off more so than help you in many ways, it has pretty well moved me away from the local buy/sell pages on The FaceBooks and such, maybe it's the drug market or something, I'll keep my eyes peeled for a good turbo, maybe someone on here has one or something, ebay is the last resort for the turbo, but the go-to for my IC, not sure about a BOV, I have this coupler for an IAT, BOV, and IAC but it requires a subaru style BOV, or an adapter.https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...501078fba1.jpgUnfortunately I do not have the turbosmart BOV in the pic.

Not sure if I'll get a response here, or if I should make a new thread... I scored a used Garrett T25 😍 shopping around and looking into my downpipe stuff a came across a "5 bolt downpipe to v-band adapter" on fleabay, do these have the same extreme strength as the stainless ebay manifolds? Or has anyone used them?
|
So I have used the eBay downpipe adapter to v-band before. I went to a 2.5" v-band. It was horribly not flat on the flange side that bolts to the turbo. Other then that it worked fine. The only issue will be depending on where your log puts the turbo and how much space you have between the back of the turbo and the rear shelf. You might have to cut back there a good amount to make a down pipe fit, especially if you are trying to make it a 3" down pipe.

If you search for Schyluers build thread you can find pictures of his setup that I built with it.
|
Awesome, thanks for the info, I'll look into that.
:bigtu: |
Can't seem to find that build thread anywhere, unfortunately.

Sixshooter uses the ebay vband adapter on his GTX turbo. He had a guy weld the adapter to the turbo so it wouldn't leak. He seems to like it.
|
It takes a very proficient welder, a specific technique, and the correct rods or it will not work.
|
If you're on a budget with modest power goals, taco taco all the way.
|
Reviving this for a second, i don't know if this is an adequate enough question to post a new thread, I got burned for $100 on a turbo, but I have a known good 13t Volvo turbo, but the exhaust inlet is a t3 and my mani is a t2, has anyone here used one of the t2 to t3 adapters on fleabay?
|
Are you familiar with the term "buy once, cry once"?

I mean the bigger issue with the adapter is what does the turbo now hit in the engine bay?
|
Additional points of failure, hitting the frame rail, other reasons...
|
The adapter I looked at was about 1" thick, and the 13T is very small, about the same size as a T25, when I get home from work I'm gonna do some measuring and see what I come up with, if it'll hit the frame/bay and such, I'll probably whine a little... I have found another turbo, a gt2550 for $450, locally, and it's a known good one.. Is that a fair price? Not doing ebay, and from what I can tell, a stock T25 from an sr looks like it'll have interference with the manifold, and clocking requires making/buying a new wastegate actuator bracket, or using the stock one and drilling/tapping new holes for the bracket bolts, (found that on here). Also found a local known good SR T25 for about $300.

I assume you mean GT2560 and not a GT2550. As I have never seen a GT2550. $450 for a good one is not a bad price at all.
How do you plan on mounting that 1" thick adapter to your log manifold? I am doubting there is room for bolts to come up form below to thread into the stock flange and then into the flange on the adapter. |

In general flanges adapters add in another point of failure. I have not physically had the odd log manifold you have. So a spacer may or may not work, but on most common miata manifolds it does not fit. You may have luck, but I personally would not waste my time or energy on it.
