Default More boost safely

yesterday i hit my target boost 8psi, on a stock motor. i accidentally made a spool up to 12psi. surprisingly it ran good for the 2 seconds it was there no pinging detonation sounds made. i still have to install my 270cc injectors, but i was wondering how much more i can go before having to worry about it exploding. the setup consists of vortech fmu, msd boost retard box, stock ecu, greedy kit, ebay intercooler, and ebay bov.

270cc injectors, pushed to the limit.

Do you have at least a wideband and intank Walbro 190 or 255 fuel pump?

When you say there was no damage, Did you do a compression test after that boost creep? and How do the spark plugs look?

I would do like Clos561, stay at 8 psi until the upgrades.

Those Greddy kits come with the typical T3/T4 or is it a smaller T25/28 turbocharger. Cause its not the same 8 psi from one to the other compressors.

the 270s arnt on the car yet. have a slightly better then oem fuel pump with a RRFPR. dont have the equipment to do a compression test. but it still runs just as good as it did before it happened. ik im a noob.

You can run whatever MAP pressure that keeps you <=12:1 AFR and less than 250whp

Do you have a wideband? Like hustler said, as long as you can maintain less than 12:1, your injectors are doing okay. But you really shouldn't go above 8psi (although psi depends on turbo).

If he has stock rods then there is a limit, 15 psi with a T3/T4 no more than that.

Stock cast pistons are good as there is a good tune, but the torque will bent the stock rods (if thats what you got).

A wideband is a must, and do install the wideband grounds like it states, the sensor itself not close to the downpipe, give around at least 3 feet from the turbo.

What sparkplugs are u using? gap?

Go NGK7 or NGK8, gap to .025.

The compression test will clearly tell if you have a bent rod. I had an engine with 3 bent rods, and two of them were bent and twisted, found out when I tore the engine from a blown oil pump (which I have stated in other threads).

I faithfully do compression tests everytime I start tuning, and sometimes do them every other or so oil change at least at the beginning.

(I know I blew a forged engine, but that is another story that will be decided on a small claims court due to a ghetto machine shop build)

It is a whole different ball game with a T3/T4 once you are hitting 12 to 15 psi, it is its sweet spot and power gains are insane. I still do not know if your Greddy kit includes such combo.

Why do people think widebands are optional?

AEM OR Innovate Motorsports LC-1 or similar.

I personally like the AEM for my DD/Street fun car. But I know there are a lot of die hard Innovate fans here.

what kind of turbo are you refering to, because, it's really not a limit at all.

i ran multiple t3t4(stage 1 t3, t3t4B,t3t4E Htrim, and a t3t4e 60-1 on a stock-internal BP with over 20 psi without bending anything, and that, for a couple of years@100+ drag runs a year.with 312whp i never encounter anyproblems at all, exept expoding a diff every week or so.(2006-2010 on a fwd mx-3 bp)

stock BP rods can take 20 psi, b6t rods can take much more(from my personal experience)

mazpr is a ******* idiot and spreads utter bullshit on this forum with nearly every post.
Seriously. Noobs be warned.

There is no set limit for anything. It all varies.

OP is a lost cause if he hit 12psi on stock injectors and no wbo2

WTF IS THIS ****.

I'm sure his BANDAID FUEL SYSTEM will go before his rods so why are we even mentioning them in this thread.?.?.? How long will the internals last at 100000:1 AFRs?

OP, bandaids caaaaaaaaaaaan be okay, but you need a wideband... like.. yesterday.

That is step one in being safe.

Step two, as we all know, is a MS.

18 psi, each setup is completely different, but looking to what he has I would not go any further on boost. All following posts to yours state the same freakin genius.

Have you ever installed a bandaid? Have you ever used one? So shut the **** up as you dont know shyt what they can do...

I bent 3 rods, the pistons are fine, is it tuning, uh, Can post pics so you can go and release ur frustration at ChuKy ChyZe

Kaboshe, I dont want to start a ping pong game and hijack the thread, whatever lucky you...

It has been proven on clubprotege.com and in carrito.net (under Mazda) Puerto Rico forum that rods are the weak link.

I have been flamed many times, til to this day nobody in the Jacksonville area has shown up, burp!

You no what, there is no limit, crank that **** to 20 psi like Kaboshe says, have fun on the dragstrip, LOL.

Here, just follow the following settings to prevent any headaches.
