NB Fuel damper conundrum

Hi folks...hoping someone can shine some light on my confusion:

I have a 1998 (1999 USA) NB being rebuilt for turbo. I splashed out on the FM fuel rail which is a nice bit of gear now I have it in hand.
My question relates to what I thought was supposed to be a damper on my stock fuel rail (being an NB) but looks like a FPR rather than a damper?
My unit in the picture below has a return coming out of it and a vacumn port?
Is this an NA fuel rail FPR?

Under a Mazda parts search, it shows the 2001-2002 moats with a 13290c pulse damper in the front. Shows the same for all of them.

Now I'm really confused. Are mk2/2.5 fuel rails the same?

I've got a 99 coming in anyway, so does it need to be a mk1 1.8 fpr, or can I use a 1.6 as well?

Just asking because I'll be calling junkyards to see what they have .

OK so found this post...thats me with the variant FPR 795300-3730! :)
So my plan is to run the FM fuel rail, fuel line and filter arrangement as per this:

Given I have a FPR on the rail, can I assume I do not have one in tank? Secondly, I am going to run an aftermarket FPR as per the above so should I just get the 99+ damper BP4W20180 to mount to the rail, OR should I just plug the port on the fuel rail and not worry about a damper?
Its all very new to me, sorry.
TIA

Euro NB1s had return-style systems. You'll need to verify this, but I believe your fuel system is basically an NA system.

Do not follow that FM schematic for the NA. Get a regulator adapter and use a 2-port FPR. Their setup basically converts it to a returnless system which is inferior.

Thanks. I chatted to my mechanic today and he advised me similarly. I will run with 2 lines, separate FPR and get my hands on a stock damper to install on the FM rail.
