OP, you came back and asked a decent question i guess.
But you're still going downhill.

This information you are looking for is out there!

But i have some fucking questions for you.

You have no idea(as in you've seen it proof) that engine is built right?
You have what, a 5 speed?
14-16psi... Do you have an intercooler that will work with those pressures?
You say it has a PNP ecu, have you figured out what the hell it is?
Maybe connect a laptop to it, and look at it see what your engine is doing?
Do you have a wideband?
Did you google search "how to turn up boost"?

Answer all of these things, and maybe i'll respond to your questions once you have.

Nope...no proof of the engine mods.
yes its a 5-speed.
I think it has a DIY ecu. still looking around trying to find it. (I found the sticker on the air box...lol)
Yes. it does have a wide band.
I did a search but keep finding people talking about what they did. but not any on how to do it. I did find these valves on a turbo site. but im not sure if that's what I need or not.

You need a boost controller. If you can't find clear and concise information about one on the internet, then a turbo car is not for you.

cowboys647 08-21-2013 01:03 PM

Read Boost control section: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...big-post-4288/

cowboys647 08-21-2013 01:04 PM

^^Better yet, read the whole thing. You need it.

more pics.

Not sure about the cooler. looks big but not sure about the rating. I think that it is a kit that came with the turbo. IDK you guys know WAY more about this stuff than the people around here.

Braineack 08-21-2013 01:16 PM

looks like you bought a well sorted car.

stop trying to fuck it.

Erat 08-21-2013 01:27 PM

I agree. Looks like what you have is pretty good. Don't mess with it anymore.

If you REALLY want that "little more" i'm sure you can figure it out (because i don't believe you to be all that stupid). But i'll tell you.
With any more that 5 speed is gonna pop. If the engine is built, that turbo will "run out" before the engine does.
If who ever tuned it turned on some type of overboost protection, then i'm sure you'll just hit fuel cut the moment you raise the boost pressure. (ie. don't do it)
A "DIY ECU"? You REALLY need to find this one out, i personally believe it's the first step in you helping yourself. Say for example it's a megasquirt, you connect a laptop to it with tunerstuido on it, and read the tune that's on it. The screen will come up with all kinds of shit, and you can pretty much change whatever you want (including overboost protection, and then you can run "all of it").
This is probably really advanced for you, which is fine. But if you're willing to help yourself and figure out what i just said. The rest should come easy.

Seriously, don't dig into this car until you know more about what you're doing and what everything is.

Good questions with some content, and even pictures will be answered.
Or just read the stickys on this site. Even if it takes you all month. You'll feel much better learning something for yourself.

bro just throw some NOS on that thing

Fireindc 08-21-2013 01:56 PM

The car ran mid 12's? If you want a faster car, there are way better cars to use for the 1/4 mile. I'm not even trying to be a dick, but if you make any more power at least plan on buying a 6 speed transmission and swapping it in. Your at least around 250whp if your doing mid 12's.

Look under the kick panel in the passenger side foot well.

If not there, follow where the harness goes.

thenuge26 08-21-2013 02:42 PM

OP you have 2 options.

1) Take it to a tuner, give them a blank check, turn around, drop trow, bend over, and ask them to turn the boost up.

2) Spend a month or 2 reading everything on this site, and become knowledgeable enough to tune yourself (and figure out WTF is on your car more importantly).

There is no #3 where you just turn a nut and boost increases. Well there is but you will fail if you do that.

I second this.

Also don't buy other people's projects unless the build has been well documented... especially if you don't know what the hell you're doing.

PS: good job listening to peoples advice and doing some searching first. This forum is extremely useful and can answer all your questions if you use it right.

I think step 1 on turning the boost up is going to be figuring out what rods are in it, and the only way to do that is to pull the pan, and the only way to pull the pan is to pull the engine. You cant just stick an inspection camera in the oil drain hole on the pan because the windage tray is in the way.

BenR 08-21-2013 04:57 PM

Or you could do it the fun way and turn up the boost, eventually the rods will present themselves through their own inspection hole.

Then buy a motor from Trackspeed or FM.

sixshooter 08-21-2013 05:06 PM

Obviously the previous owner of that car could have turned it up to 16 psi but decided 11psi was all anybody ever needed. So he didn't turn it up any higher than that even though the car was perfectly capable of it.

Does that sound reasonable? Or is it more likely that since he was smart enough to build such a nice car that he knew something you don't? That maybe some components are incapable of going to the next level without spewing hot oil and shrapnel all over the ground?

Yeah, I'm sure he was just a dumbass or a pusssy. You are going to make it go much faster because you are much smarter and know a lot more about turbo Miatas than he did.

What size injectors do you have? What is your boosted duty cycle? It is yet another thing you must know before turning up the pressure. It is an imperative. It is non-negotiable.

I forgot about this in my list of questions.

This is also something that is NEEDED to know.

ratboy3995 08-21-2013 07:34 PM

I finaly got in touch with the original owner. He informed me that the turbo is begie kit 2560 compresor and upgraded cooler. The motor is a new factory crate with approximately 9k miles. The car has a mega squirt ecu in the passenger kick panel. The clutch and flywheel have been upgraded along with a torson rear axle and 1.8L brakes. The car also has a coolant system rerout, 440 injectors, a walbro pump. Exhaust system, big radiator, and oil cooler. He said it pulled 230 rwhp on the dyno at begi where it was built and tuned.

ratboy3995 08-21-2013 07:37 PM

I guess I will need some rods, stud kit, pistons, injectors, oil pump stuff and a retune. And maybe a bigger turbo. I would like to see 300rwhp. Not sure what to think about the trans.

18psi 08-21-2013 07:37 PM

so I was right.

and don't touch anything on the car. no ALLOFIT for you til those rods are replaced
