You can do any custom setup you like so I can't say our products are the only way. But both AC and PS options we offer are the cleanest way to do it, and they do work for the K24Z3 as well.

Thanks. I guess I should say "the only off the shelf way." Who knows what a guy could kludge up?

With every new update you put out, this swap becomes harder and harder to resist. I've become a sucker for street manners after running poly mounts for a year, then having "downgraded" to Mazdacomp. My enjoyment of the car went up 10x. I've always wanted to do this swap, but after that experience all I could think of was how much vibrations a big 2.4L engine with the balance shafts removed would transmit to through poly mounts.

I can't wait to see the final castings and oil pan. It's seriously starting to look like an OEM delivered package.

I bet it vibrates less than a BP still :p

The K24 is a very smooth engine, and our LS poly mount pads can also be swapped to OEM rubber mounts as well. Even with the poly mounts, NVH is low with this setup, and definitely lower than our older K24A2 mounts.

Going engine shopping today. Getting pumped to get this kit in hand!

With the price of this kit and the ease of turbocharging these motors I just don't see going with a built BP anymore. Watching this thread for updates and links to some build threads!

Despite making my living selling BP internals among other things, I have to agree. BP & bolt ons: good value. Spending any money outside of a basic rebuild for a BP to go faster, less so now that the Z3 swap exists.

Arca_ex 10-26-2019 05:29 AM

Well alrighty then. $700 for the both of them.

For me it has always been the ability to split costs over a larger time frame. Sticking with the BP has always allowed me to do that. It is the big thing that has always kept me from any sort of engine swap. I don't have the desire to save up $5k-$8k to do something all at once.

Saying all that I have a spare chassis that will probably get some sort of KSwap sometime in the next few years.

Local wrecking yard that parts out cars.

I used Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market to find them.

Awesome! Thanks!

Looking around to determine the weight differential.

K24 engines look to be about 413 pounds

The BP engines look to be about 290 pounds.

Strictly for information.

Anyone see or find anything much different?

Thanks in advance.

Arca_ex 10-29-2019 07:57 PM

Where are you finding these weights... are you looking at the sheet of k series weights that happens to have the transmission still attached?

Think about it, iron block vs. aluminum block. The aluminum engine is not over 100lbs heavier.

Bri1062 10-29-2019 08:05 PM

Honda Engine And Drivetrain Weights - Weight Watchers
2.4L K series: 413 pounds

Honda’s 2.4L K-series engines vary a bit from one another. For example, the TSX’s K24A2 that features VTEC on both camshafts weighs in at the top, followed by 2.4L Accord engines and finally the CR-V’s K24Z

So yes, drive train attached on the K motor'

Do you have a way to weigh either of the 2 you just got?

I am trying to get a look at what the weight difference might be. Simply to be able to compare apples and apples.

Do you think the 290 for the BPis fair?

2 other sources are listing the K24Z3 at 412 pounds. It says "engine weight" no notation of transmission attached.

A fully dressed K24 is about 275 lbs. The 400+ lb numbers you see on the web include a trans, clutch, and flywheel. Guys doing K swaps in a Honda chassis care about that, us not so much.

Our original K24 swap drops 30 lbs from a BP car with AC and PS already deleted. The K24Z3 should be very similar.

Excellent information! Thanks for coming up and replying to my inquiry,

Bri1062 10-31-2019 10:53 PM

Does it matter if the donor car was automatic? I don't want the transaxle, but if the donor car was automatic will it be a problem?
