New Miata Junk 2 Intake

I'll just leave this here for discussion.....

Who's gonna be the first to try it??

Savington Sep 14, 2017 07:10 PM

Mine should be here early next week, I'll see what it does compared to the squaretop on Acamas (built motor, EFR6758)

Erat Sep 14, 2017 07:18 PM

No brace?
Not needed?

Stealth97 Sep 14, 2017 07:18 PM

If it's on par with the squaretop it's going to sell. If it flows better than that, watch out

I say when the R&D is completed by the first 100 paying customers they'll find they need one.

mitymazda Sep 14, 2017 07:21 PM

What are your guys thoughts on that thing hanging off the block with no support? And can I just slap that ultra sticker on top of my square top I got for that extra 5hp I'm desperately looking for?

I'd loveeee to hear how it works for ya. I've got a VVT motor sitting here and instead of dealing with grinding off some of the VCTS manifold to fit the 99 fuel rail and 93 regulator, it looks as if it will clear the Skunk 2 manifold with no issue.

shuiend Sep 14, 2017 07:22 PM

I will probably order one sometime in the future. I can maybe one day compare it to my cast begi manifold.

concealer404 Sep 14, 2017 07:29 PM

I'd like to see what it does on an N/A motor.

For Bill putting this in his ad copy:

There sure isn't anything there to really back that up. Let's see those dynos on SPICY HOT DOPE FRESH N/A BUILDS.

Or how about them builds that's less Tabasco and more ketchup?

Those are fine too and more relevant to my current interests. But i'm going to be more interested long term in what it does on the hottest dumpster fire BP builds.

From the MiataRoadster Facebook discussion (
Facebook Post
)

MiataRoadster I asked my Skunk2 rep if they would provide test results to answer your questions and he said: "...anyone can fluff a dyno number to make it look like it gains, look at all the cold air intake manufacturers." "Skunk2 has always only sold products that improve performance and we have a strong following."
Sounds like they want us to just take them at their word, and after the issues I read on their throttle body I'm not sure I trust them. I'm looking forward to Savington's test results.

concealer404 Sep 14, 2017 07:48 PM

LOL.

"Anyone can fluff gains, so we're going to do it too, just without any attempt at making it look legit."

Awesome.

Link to plenum spacers for volume tuning?

Thanks for taking the risk ahead of all of us!

Where's the barbs for my boost gauge, sensor and BOV?
Are we supposed to tap the two "X-marked" spots above the throttle cable mount point?
Wouldn't these be better at the rear of the chamber than so close to the throttle butterfly valve?

flat top killer
....just take our word for it brooooooo

What are the holes on the engine side of the manifold? Could be 2 1/4"NPT and 2 1/8"NPT maybe.

curly Sep 14, 2017 10:37 PM

Well, if you took the time to read the product description before blabbing your mouth on the internet, you'll see that it is " Tapped with 1/8” NPT, 1/4” NPT and 10mm threads for accessories"

concealer404 Sep 14, 2017 10:46 PM

Same upper plenum as everything else they do. Don't worry about having fittings. There are plenty, and good ones.
