New RB header and wideband bung
the new ones all seem to be facing obviously downward. What's everyone doing, drilling and welding for a new one?
|
you're strong. just twist the pipe!
|
Picture of the RB headers with the wideband bung in the wrong place? I am just curious about it.
|
Mine had it in the wonk place too. I'm just having my test pipe drilled, I dont want anyone drilling my beautiful new header.
|
I'd like to see a picture of this as well.
|
I'll attach a photo soon, currently dealing with another problem on the same car.

I always install a bung near the bottom for dyno use.

Here ha go. Horrible picture but you get the idea. Faces down. Great location for dyno wideband, yes. I dunno about everyday though.

Yeah. Wrong spot. Pretty shitty for them to do that. A sensor won't last long like that.

i dont see any problem with that to be honest.
|
It allows condensation to collect inside the sensor.
|
I think that's how my 94-97 header looks that I bought back in 2011.

I mean I get that, BUTT:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1461249945 or is the idea more: IF some water molecules make it into the sensor when suspended in the exhaust, they can collect inside, pool inside and kill it? (this is same concern with MS MAP sensor) |
Likecat for you :likecat: |

fine, ill yield to that.
I'm sure they just did it that way to clear the trans. I agree it should be verticalish, if anything to keep it up out of the way. |
The old ones were a lot more vertical. And most wideband installation manuals say between 10 and 2 for the bung.
|
no, i know this. i honestly just wanted to draw the picture so i set myself up.

It's more about the risk of thermal shock than risk from Scott's unique proclivities.

This is what I was expecting:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1461512086 This is what I got: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1461512086 Honestly it's before the horizontal portion of the header, so it shouldn't collect much moisture, so I'll leave it for now, it's just not the first I've seen, and wondering if they're sticking with this location and why. |
It easier to get access to, so it's got that going for it!
Mine has not been a problem, and it's been on af several years now. |
Its not on a horizontal portion of the pipework so its location doesnt matter.
|
wideband location
has this location been an issue ? I also just received the same header for a NA 8 and was wondering if I should weld a new bung or just use this one.

It looks like you accidentally reported your own post. Carry on.
