Default Oil leak and valve train knock

First time posting here and an entry level "mechanic", Im learning to work on cars via this one... Replaced the water pump on my stock 95 a while back... ever since ive had a fairly loud valve train knock, sounds like its coming from the intake side.... if I recall I think I was about half a notch off when timing the cam on the intake side. Wondering if this is something that could horribly mess up the car? I just moved to a new apartment and I cant work on cars here, that plus work lately hasnt given me much time to tear things back apart and retime the car...all I know for certain is that its coming from the valve train and not the block, and im 99.9% sure its on the passenger side. Also have an oil leak ive been trying to track down, dont think its from the filter, drain plug, or valve cover that I can see... any recommendations on the next best spots to look? Thanks in advance for any advice
