question on everyones water temps
um just would like to know what is everyone seeing on water temp high way and street driving..... i live in south florida and its crazy hot.
my set up is coolant reroute
custom rad... extra big
the bottom ducked not the sides or the top.. doing the top soon. the sides have too much stuff going on ( oil cooler lines, ic piping, ac crap otherwise fully loaded)..
70% water 30% coolant anti corro
ebay fans 12 inch and on all the time
30 row oil cooler
160 thermo
anyways i see like 185-195 on the street and highway 175-185
and this is just normal driving..... have not been able to go wide open throttle.... breaking in the new engine, new clutch and just got bigger injectors so i need to retune it. but will let you know what happens when i start to boost it. but just wanted to know if this coolant reroute really did anything.

And your temps are what? Sorry but I must have missed the useful info in your posts
Ive still got the crap stock gauge and havent got the ms running yet so i dont know about mine right now. Try using filling the whole rad with nothing but Water Wetter . It helped keep my temps on the last miata down to about 185-90

The useful information can easily be gleaned from my post by anyone with a brain. "Your temps are in this range which is at or below the range at which the factory thought it necessary to have the thermostat open to let cooling start." I just like to use common sense in making people see how stupid their concerns are. Thank you, come again.

Uh....
230-250 here. I don't believe it, but that's what it says. That's with the GM coolant sensor numbers, GM bias resistance, standalone MS2 on a 99'. Car runs fine and never overheats though. But it makes me wonder. Talked to AbeFM and he said his did the same, something about MS2. So I put in his numbers for the sensor and it reads lower now. Actually reads a little too low. Need to adjust the numbers sometime. Ha, I can adjust my coolant temps....
160*F thermo is bad on your engine. Put a mazda thermostat of the correct temp in there. You want the cooling system to maintain the correct temperature all the time, not a super low one that increases engine.
And post some pics of your setup, radiator, heat exchangers, shrouding, fans, re route, etc. Not 1 phone pic.

The engine runs ~200*F. But for some reason MS2 reports higher values. FWIW, the sensor is in the back of the head and I have not done a reroute. So it "is" possible it's that hot back there. Sensor is dead on accurate at lower temps. Say it's 90*F outside on my digital thermometer, then Megtune will show that temp within 1 degree before startup.

No, it increases engine!!!!11 Yeah, increases wear. I dunno why but my laptop sucks for typing. It will sometimes highlight a word while I'm typing and then when I hit the next key, it deletes the word and puts whatever key I just hit in its place. No idea why but it's aggravating.
And Paul, you're running a lower temp thermostat too I read. I'd switch to stock one if I were you.

I'm not trying to be an ***, just explicit; you've not yet confirmed with an IRT that it is inaccurate at higher temps?
If so, that is weird. I thought the use of GM sensors was more linear, than say the Bosch sensors. I've been told several times that I had to run another program to get the right values to the computer IF I ran a Bosch sensor. IIRC, GMs are more linear...?
Tangentially speaking, this makes me wonder; Miatas' suffer with the problem of too much heat in the back of the head, and they also suffer from poor fuel pressure to the back two cylinders if you are running much more than stock HP (I forget the limit area)... Is it possible there is a relationship? Extra fuel can help with cooling for sure...
Thinking about it more, I don't think it is real likely; it seems like everyone has the cooling problem regardless of power while the fueling issue only comes on once you get up to X hp...
Hopefully I am coming up with something interesting, if not ignore me and nod your head knowingly...

Don't ASSume **** about fueling. There's more crap, rumors, and BS about fueling than there is in politics. I won't even touch the subject.
