I have learned the hard way not to buy "rebuilt" motors from just anybody. The is a LOT of things that can be done wrong when rebuilding a motor.

Smartest money is having one built from a trusted source. I would lean towards someone who has done a Miata motors before. Torque plates are a must IMHO.

Lastly as everyone else pointed out those scratches are not normal for such a low miles motor.
