Default socket size for ARP head studs?

I'm in the middle of my rebuild. Just took out the box with the ARP bolts only to find out, that my metric stuff won't work there. So I need to order the right socket but I've honestly no idea what size to order?

The nuts are labled with 7/16 x20, but 7/16 is about 11mm, the nut has a diameter of aproximatly 13mm, so I'm quite confused.

Thanx for your help...Bjoern

I think you need a 12 pont 13mm socket if I remember right.

my 12pt 13mm socket doesn't seem to fit right, it wobbles arround. so I guess it's some kind of non metric stuff - could it be 1/2inch 12pt?

bingo. i managed to crack my 13mm 12pt while torquing up the stud, but a 1/2 12pt fit like a glove.

All ARP stuff is standard size... my head bolts were 1/2 inch. 12mm will fit but its a little loose and might slip.

I just installed mine a few days ago

13mm, but I think people are correct in that they probably use standard as opposed to metric, but 13mm worked just fine.

For single sockets like that... I go to Sears, they're about 2-5 bucks each.

Location location location... My guess is that it's very difficult to impossible to find standard sockets in Germany considering the US is the only country that uses 'standard' sizes.

You're right, they're available here, as Harley and old English roadsters commonly use this system, but these are no items that wait on the shelf right behind the counter of your parts dealer...but you can order them if you know the size...

btw 1/2" fits like a glove
