Suggestions on 600cc + Injectors

Im looking for suggestions on brand names / models of injectors to run in my 260 HP at the wheels 1600cc engine...we have started to peak out the 520 cc (?) ones we currently have and I want to look at a known brand, these current ones are a bit unknown.

I know 949 have the injector Dynamics but there are other options out there I am sure...

Nothing as good/better than IDs.

ID1000s.

NO! You want ID725s.

mx5-kiwi 10-07-2014 11:00 PM

Thanks guys, very unambiguous! (unusual for here :giggle:)

Do I want 1000 or 725's..?

I have read that 1000 run fine in smaller engines but it DOES seem like a lot when I only really need 600 ish....at the outside.

acedeuce802 10-07-2014 11:09 PM

The 725's and 1000's have very similar low pulse-width dead times, so they have the same idle capabilities. May as well get 1000's. I can idle with ID1000's at 900 rpm, plus or minus 15 rpm, at anywhere from stoich up to 17+ afr. These injectors are awesome. Sure, I only run them to right around 50% duty cycle for now, but when the day comes that my motor is built, and running E85, I'll be thankful.

18psi 10-08-2014 12:04 AM

they are the same price, and work the same, so...

If you have any thoughts of running E85, the 1000's will be better suited.

Seems like you just blurted that out in the thread, and now linking it as "fact".

Post testing data or documented results to back up that claim, cause I've yet to hear anyone else say that. I'm actually really interested, because on several different occasions I have asked this exact question, and because "logically" I would tend to agree with you, but in practice it has so far appeared to not be the case.

Savington 10-08-2014 04:30 PM

Whether or not the ID725s are more linear at low DC% is actually irrelevant. You only need linearity down to the duty cycle that is required to idle the motor at stoich. If the ID1000 can be idled at stoich on a BP, then you don't need to go smaller.

18psi 10-08-2014 06:20 PM

Valid point.

I guess I keep searching for the "up side" to running them over the 1k's and so far I haven't found one either.

It's an odd case, because for sub-400whp gasoline cars they'll both do the same job at the same price without any downside to having one or the other.

Fair point.

See 2nd graph here: http://injectordynamics.com/articles/low-pulse-tech/

At the lowest flow rates, aka Idle, the ID725s are more linear so are easier to Idle tune (for backyard hacks like me, that's a good thing).

They're only more linear from 0.0-0.3ms (after accounting for dead time). I dont know about the rest of you but I'm never commanding that little pulse width with the 1000's, ever.

I always assumed ID/FIC are close in comparison... Am I wrong to assume that?

Yes

acedeuce802 10-08-2014 07:42 PM

FIC are good. Both are EV14 technology. But ID goes the extra distance to flow match them, and provide real data to help control them better.

IIRC I idle around 2 ms, which is in the linear range of ID1000's.

EO2K 10-08-2014 07:53 PM

My peasant class Fuel Injector Clinic 650cc EV14s are more than doing the job at the moment. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I'm sure IDs are the proverbial "cats pajamas" but the FICs seem to be working fine for me. :dunno:
