I've got some CAT rods off ebay. The small end size that they had listed was incorrect for some reason. I measured both ends and they are factory spec.

Whats the thought on rod bolts? are the ARP 8740s good enough if you're aiming for under 400whp or is it worth it to go to the 2000s?

From what I read, the 2000's are only needed for over 200hp per cylinder.

I think they'll be fine.:D

I've had a 94 motor and a 96 motor and the 94 definatly had lower compression pistons. The 94 top had a dish to it and the 96 bumped up. I think the pre obd2 1.8l was 9.0:1

Somewhere in '95 the pistons went from slightly dished to slightly domed. The domed piston has superseded the dished piston from Mazda, so if you order pistons from Mazda Motorsports, you will get the domed piston.
