Intercooler kit just keeps you intake temp cold. If anything its going to help you by lowering your chance from knock and not having to retard your timing as much.

Fantastic, thanks for that info. i think i might go that route then. Any recomendations on a cheep intercooler kit?

I have just ordered the Kit , spoke to a very nice lady by the name of stephanie who is putting the kit togeather as we speak. also treated myself to one of theyre boost gauges aswell.

Good luck make sure to post pictures once you start to install.

Viper 08-12-2009 03:18 PM

yeah ill be sure to do that. iv still got to some how get it on a suit case or a few consecutive suit cases and fly it home to UK before i can install it
but at least with this kit i can bolt it on and not have to worry about it being a cheep knock off.

As iv now ordered the turbo kit, can anyone recomend a cheep intercooler kit?

miatamike203 08-12-2009 07:08 PM

Do a search for intercoolers there are many good ones.

Viper 08-13-2009 11:42 AM

iv had a look at some cheep ebay intercoolers would they be ok to do the job?

buffon01 08-13-2009 12:11 PM

Ebaycoolers are good ... cxracing I think is a popular seller on this forum. Sizing depends upon what you can fit, where your going to fit it, and how youre going to fit it. Joe perez has a nice write up on what he did. The piping you can spend some bucks and get it pre fab like the sylicone ones Flyinmiata sells or you can buy different bends and make your own (also covered in joe's write up)

If you pick up a Ebay Radiator, there is a group buy post. Call him up and he will sell it to you for $120 bones. It worked awsome.

Make sure you have something to cut the pipes on the universal Ebay I/C. They don't just bolt up.

The ebay blow off valves are pretty good too.

What type of fuel and timing manage does the shanghi come with?

CRXican 08-13-2009 03:37 PM

the shangai kit comes with the Begi FMU that the regular S kits come with

buffon01 08-13-2009 03:45 PM

Skip the FPR, personally I'll get a MS, but Im bias.;)

All you have to do is route a piece hose to the vaccum fitting on the Intake manifold plunum and install the the bov somewhere between the turbine and the manifold. Here, this will answer most of your questions if not all. Please take a look at the DIY write ups.
