Virgin Head...Friday night engine porn NSFW :)

I came home tonight to find this box on my doorstep. It contains what is supposed to be one of the two final 1999-2000 virgin heads that came from the Mazda Japan warehouse. After this, no new production, no NOS unless you can find it collecting dust on a dealer's shelf.

Who's got the other last head? This guy. :)

That's beautiful.

Now hack it up :giggle:

Needs to get dirty, or put in glass on the wall

Since they're the last heads from Japan, I feel it's my duty to get as much friggin' horsepower out of them as possible, while still being street-able of course. We're nearing the end of any type of "new" development of the Miata mill, so it's incumbent on me to use the knowledge of those who have come before to tune the shit outta these heads.

There's a road map planned to take me to 180whp NA, and beyond. :)

thirdgen 08-03-2013 01:33 AM

Guess why?

thirdgen 08-03-2013 01:34 AM

Cause I have 3 of these in my garage...that's why.

That would make you a "whore-der." :)

They say whore-ders have mental issues...I say that might be true.

That's an MSM head, not a 99-00 head. Just FYI.

Why aren't you using a VVT head?

Did not know it was MSM, thanks.

As for no VVT, mainly to keep it simple. This is an old skool engine and I'm treating it that way.

How do you tell em apart?

Oscar 08-05-2013 09:02 AM

It will cost you a 150% more for only 10% performance increase.

Have you not seen my other projects?! No one has ever accused me of my Spock-like logic.

18psi 08-05-2013 02:49 PM

I got one of these a few months ago too. I thought they were unavailable, but have a good connection in the dealership circle.

I think it was around $1000 bare though.
