VVT locking
In anticipation of fitting a MK2.5 VVT motor to my car (96 MK1), and being currently unable to control the VVT I need to lock it off.
I'm unsure as to how you lock the VVT off, can anyone let me know? Also in what direction should I lock it off. I'm not too bothered about sacrificing low end torque as it will have an MP62 strapped to the side of it. Cheers! |
do nothing. unplug the connector on top of the valve cover to the OCV.
it will lock itself at full retard and basically give you the "top end" powerband. |

Just get an EMS that can control it and actually enjoy the feature.
But, leaving it disconnected wont kill you. |
Uhhh yeah okay spending money needlessly sounds a great idea!
MS will be able to control it in the future, I can wait. |

Misses the point though, I'm not changing my EMS I thought one guy has tried it but I haven't heard anything as far as progress to getting the adaptronic and vvt to speak the same language on the NA car. Interested in the haltech but it seems like miata guys don't run those units too often.. |
Because there isn't a harness built for one yet basically.
If it can run the GT-R we ran, it'll happily run a miata. lol |

Nor do I have the inclination at the minute to learn a new ECU. I'm very happy with my MSII setup. VVT control will come in time, and until then I'll live with the 'loss' of low down torque. Beside I'd wager a VVT head locked down to full retard will still put down more torque than the current motor did/does at low revs ;) |

I wonder if the MS3 will be able to handle VVT. Anyone know or has this been discussed?

Cliffs, it'll come, but every system is different so for a proper feedback system they'll be a wait. In the interim a PWM table will be offered. ISTR there being talk of an optional board for MS/MSII being made, DIYAT have some involvement with it. |
