And I almost got this engine..... damn, no offense to you snowboarder heh.
Yeah I'd see if they'll give you the said GTX rods its suppose to have if not something better to compensate. I've got my je/crower setup half-way in, finishing the rest today. I'll let you know how they hold up after tune+boost+tune+dynotune+autox

wow. I thought Robello was somewhat respectable; apparently they're crooks. I'd leave this **** off the internet until you talk to them. I'd expect nothing short of a compensation for the amount required for replacement parts and machining from another shop, considering the failure point is a duplicitous consideration and your desire to avoid further incidence with this company. You may also want to consider legal action.
Tell me you have a work order on paper. If so, I'd take this to court for replacement cost with the proper parts, dealership labor rates, and legal costs. If this allegation is true, its going to be a sad day for the shop. I'm certain the SM backlash-threat may convince them to make-good on their deceit. This is why I picked-up my motor with the head and pan off the motor.
Please, tell me you have a work-order or invoice.

smart man i work for a shop and we sent out 5 motor to a place to have them built 4 out of the 5 motors we got back were no good the guy that built them put the main bearings upside down in a evo motor almost fucked the crank and then the other motor had looses rod bolts wrong size bearings old cranks that were bent old oil pumps i mean the guy even fucked up the sleeves in a sti motor. so if they do give you money or what ever i would assemble the engine yourself have a shop do the machining but assemble it yourself that way you know its right.

I bought the motor from someone who WORKED at the shop, well keep the name out of it since i DID NOT pay the shop to build me a motor with "X" rods/pistons ect. I bought this motor "as is" so its not any shops fault.

ah, well take him to court then and not robello. I'd have a serious discussion with his boss though because that can't help his reputation.
About a decade ago I borrowed my friend's blown VR6 for a few days. The day after I gave it back it dropped a valve. I was super-pissed and embarrassed because it looked really bad. Luckily, 2 other motors dropped valves the same week. We discovered that the guy who build all 3-motors didn't use the right valve springs.

The rods were advertised as "Turbo 1800" rods. It didn't click in either his or my mind until it was blown up that "Turbo 1800" = "MSM" = "stock"
It says something about that shop, though, when they employ people who think that stock rods and forged pistons is a good idea.
