Default What I Want

Hi my name is Jordan I am from a small town in Nebraska. I recently have decided to build a Miata for my next car but wanted to know a little bit befor I invest to heavily. I know that the motor usually will only hold about 250-300hp befor it starts to wear out. My goal is to have a fun car to drive in town and take to the track when I am home from work and i would like to hit mid 12's in the quarter mile. My little brother is good with turbos and has built many turbo cars so thats the route im goin. So how much power does everyone think it would take to hit 12's in the quartermile. Thanks all comments welcome.

first of all you need this moved to the welcome/noob section....second update your profile with location. then do some searching, because honestly: this site is awesome but you need to play by the rules and search, noone will spoon feed you. the search function will answer 100% of every single question you just asked.

that said, welcome: you will love a miata, and anything over 230whp will get you "into" 12's with good driving imo......really depends on what engine/turbo/setup

Miata's are hard to get to hook up, either your low on boost, or you are spinning out of the hole. Now if you had one of the ebc's that would let you take of at 8 psi, and then hit 14psi in third. It would be on like Donkey kong. If you have slicks, your times would be totally different. You might move in first or second.

I took my little brothers friend down the strip once. I gained almost 2 10ths in the 1/8 mile. I was shocked when it took off like a bat. LOL

I haven't been to a 1/4 mile track yet. But This car will be way faster in the 1/4 than the 1/8th.

With street tires, I am shifting into 4th at the 1/8th line. Your power gears in this car are 3rd and 4th. I can't wait to hit the quarter mile. The car is way more efficient in the 1/4 mile.

But on street tires 13's are common. Now once you are moving and hit it. OH-man it will move. But me, I like having a fun tire burner.

I think "apexonyou" would be a good guy to ask about power and time.
