Whats your forged internal choice??

Alright so I have already begun my 94M 1.8L Turbo build and I am curious to know...What was your forged internal choice??

I am looking at 3 different piston manufacturers to choose from..

J&E

CP

and

Wiseco.

I am having the cylinders bored to 84mm and i would like to run an 8.5:1 comp ratio
My goal is to reach 300 WHP and be almost the same if not more in Torque.

The rods I will be using are Eagle H-Beam with ARP rod bolts, and I also went with ACL race bearings; rod, main, thrust

Thanks ahead!!

Supertech's (which I just ordered from Trackspeed yesterday, best price I could find out there) and Eagle H-beams. No reason to buy the more expensive stuff.

7:1 compression pistons is where its at

hustler 01-12-2012 01:26 AM

I have 8.6:1 Supertechs and i am very happy with them, and i have over 100 hours of track time at 250whp and the pistons show no detonation and not bore scrapes. I see no reason to go with anything else. Now go make an intro thread or I will e-thug you.

9:1 CP, ebay special (eagle/m-tuned/SCAT/etc.) h-beam rods, ACL bearings, ARP rod/head/main.

TurboTim 01-12-2012 08:52 AM

Wiseco.

cp/wiseco are made by the same company iirc.
I've used both with good results.

but around here supertechs are popular
and for rods I used m-tuned, though looks like the ebay specials are getting great reviews as well.

Faeflora 01-12-2012 10:54 AM

I forgot this thread was about the best bang for your buck..........oh, yea that's right, it's not. :jerkit:

Some info from Carrilo:

To counteract rod fatigue, Carrillo Industries uses a proprietary steel, manufactured and forged to their own custom specifications. After experimenting with virtually every other reasonable material, Carrillo Industries have found that a chromium / nickel / vanadium / molybdenum FORGED alloy to be the best product to meet their stringent requirements for strength and durability.

Carrillo Industries connecting rods are fully machined to guarantee the removal of all surface imperfections in the forging. After heat treatment, each connecting rod is 100% magnaflux inspected and hardness checked, then machined to final size. Each set of rods is balanced and then shot peened to achieve the ultimate in strength and fatigue properties. Carrillo leaves no stone unturned during the quality check process.
