Engine oil is responsible for a MUCH larger percentage of engine cooling than most people give it credit for. That being said, cool engine temps are also not the only reason this oil cooler kit might be a good idea for your build. We all know oil viscosity is very important, engine oil is rated on what's called a "Viscosity Index", this index shows the change in viscosity between hot and cold oil. Your engine clearances are designed for a specific thickness or viscosity of oil and this thickness changes greatly with oil temperatures. For this exact reason, we've put together this kit with a premium thermostatic oil adapter plate to properly regulate temperatures. Just like the thermostat in the cooling system of your Miata, this sandwich plate bypasses the flow of oil to allow the engine oil to get to operating temperature before starting to do it's job. Warming oil up is just as important as keeping it within operating temps. This kit contains all of the premium components you'll need for installation. The pieces of this kit have been carefully selected to serve a very functional purpose. Key Features:

nice! any provision for filter relocation?

Looks like a nice kit at a nice price.
What would take this to the next level is Miata-specific brackets to locate this in place of the stock A/C fan. |

BTW, just some nits in the description:
1. Engine oil absorbs little of the heat from producing power, but almost all of the heat from engine friction (i.e., oil gets really hot if you spin the engine to 7K even if the throttle's closed). For street driving, I really wouldn't bother even with mega-boost. For track driving, a really great thing to do even with a stock motor. 2. No thermostatic sandwich plate that I've seen shuts off the flow of oil to the cooler. What they do is open a bypass -- but those ports to the cooler are still open. This makes them failsafe (they never restrict oil flow). Take a look at your sandwich plate and you'll see what I mean. If you ever do run across a sandwich plate that shuts off flow to the cooler ports . . . RUN! LOL. |

Do the low profile fittings mean that the thermostat plate can be installed without a spacer or oil warmer? Mods, delete this if you think it clutters too much. |

Does this use a 180* or 205* thermostat?

Do the low profile fittings mean that the thermostat plate can be installed without a spacer or oil warmer? - That'd be nice but the fittings are for the oil cooler side. They give you almost an inch more clearance over using the older style fittings. Take a look here: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7708/...5d932bce4a.jpg |
Nice, wish the hose/fittings I'm using had those, hopefully they will still fit.

Most of our customers will be using some type of sensor, whether or not it will be for pressure or temp monitoring. The trouble with this is the Mocal thermostatic adapter does have ports for these sensors.
After some custom tooling we were able to have our machine shop properly tap the housing. Difficult task due to the shallow depth to drive a tap properly. This was only 1/2 of the work, as you can see the housing does not have clearance for most pressure sensors.- That's why we tapped it much larger than necessary for a sensor and installed a spacer.- This should allow the use of any 1/8 npt sensor. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8745/...54b4d48d78.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7751/...93415ed4db.jpg We will be offering this configuration if there is a desire for it. It will be put to use on our personal NB so I'm sure others would find it beneficial. |
25 row options back in stock!

In for pics of installed spacer with pressure sender. Also, "PRODUCT LINK HERE" in OP is broken?
Anyway, neat stuff, keep up the good work! |
Do you only do the 25 row now? Do all the sammiches come tapped for sensor(s)? (Looking to run oil temp and oil pressure)

The plates don't come tapped as of now - I've done 3 of them this way and I'm not quite sure it's something we're ready to start shipping. |
What's the price on the 16? Couldn't find it on your site.
And it sounds like i need to get my search on and find out where to run the oil things easily. |

I just ordered the MOCAL sandwich plate from you guys to test fit against a relocation adapter I'm trying to use. If it works, can I order the rest of the kit sans mocal?
