turbo lawn mower!
Ok, so i didnt completely thread jack i decided to move this to a new thread...
This was an "end of the summer and too broke to work on our cars" project, so my friend decided to take his lawnmower which already had the pullys reversed and governer removed, and install my T25 from my old sr20det. We only had it on there for a day because we didnt have a downpipe, and with a blown oil seal his dad didnt exactly like having the exhaust spit at him. It will be back on next summer tho w/ a better setup.
The motor actually has thread-in exhaust so we made some pipe fittings and amazingly enough found a pipe flange almost identical to the T2 flange that sealed very nicely. The intake flange is actually a GM exhaust flange... and for all the intake piping its PVC FTMFW. He actually made a dual carb setup for th is motor by grafting 2 carbs together and it ran great na... we will throw that on w/ the turbo next year.
-The thing spooled up right at the end of the gearing, so it wasnt spectacular, but it went like hell high end
-we didnt want to throw 7psi on a tractor, nor did we think we could even reach that, so instead we ghetto fabbed up a very light spring to the wastegate valve that allowed it to just slightly open up as it got on boost. (i wanted to just seal it closed and run mad boost but he wouldnt)
-We did not water cool it, and for oil just to make the already shitty journal bearings happy we filled it with a little oil and capped both ends... like i said it was on there for a day.
We now got our hands on an OHV motor that has the exhaust on the opposite side of the intake which should allow us to set it up better and run dual carbs. We will put a boost guage on it too. I really wanted to throw megasquirt on there, but timing wasn't good and i didnt order MS till after we were back at college.
as for videos: i had them on my old cell...which i broke
