I went to Kragen tonight to get the water lines for the turbo, however they only sell fuel injector line.

Is this what most of you guys use? Wasn't sure what the temp rating for fuel injector lines are or if they are even OK to run water through.

 

I use fuel hose line for little water lines on my motor, but I don't have a water cooled turbo.

I will say though that for the same price, you can buy a roll of stainless braided line from Summit Racing and then do up your lines. They'll look better and be better protected and last longer. Kinda like how I did my coolant lines by the down pipe. These costed me 20 bucks.

 

I use industrial grade silicone coolant hose.

 

Do they have to be rubber? Can you do hard line near turbo and then transition to something more flexible?
A couple I did...not on a Miata but may give you an idea. I used 3/8" stainless and flared it 37degrees to use =6 tube nuts and sleeves. We used these fittings from ATP.

Kelly, where'd you find the tools to flare the stainless line? All I've found is "soft metal" flare kits.

I'm almost positive anplumbing.com sells the kit but I don't know if their prices are affordable in comparison to elsewhere.

 

Nice work. Bending those stainless lines by hand is a serious pain. Doesn't look like it crimped down the radius too bad either.

Here are the lines I built this weekend for my new turbo. Disregard the
ugly wastegate line. Its an old one I rebent by hand for the new setup while I wait on my 1/4" stainless tube.

 

So the "not desgined to flare stainless steel line" will do the job anyway? Sweet. Looks like I'm buying one....

Snap-on sells a nice kit too. A lil more pricey, but you get what you pay for. Life time warranty too

 

Stainless is tricky. What I do to ensure it seals after its final assembled is tighten it and loosen the tube nut multiple times on a steel AN fitting of whatever size I am using. I have a set of steel fittings for this task only. That ensures the line is flared to the correct shape and has ample sealing surface.

When I am flaring at the shop I use this tool. Its pretty outstanding.
