I'm about to order the Begi Shanghai-S kit. Speak now or forever hold your peace
I've been searching for a while for a used Turbo kit without much luck. I'm almost sold on the Chinese kit but I want to make sure I didn't miss something out there that says this kit is a mistake and I'll have to replace the turbo out of pocket in 3 mos. I'm waiting on someone from Begi to call me back and explain the manufacturer warranty on the turbo to me. Please list any Pros and Cons that you may know of with this Chinese turbo. I've read posts of people using them but most have been fairly new kits. Thanks in advance

I'm running the Begi-S with the Garrett 2554.
If I were to do it again, I'd go with the china-charger, and spend the saved money on having Braineack build a megasquirt.
On mine, I also upgraded my oil and coolant lines to stainless. This seems like a worthwhile upgrade.
Finally, I'd also start with a wide band o2 (flip a coin between the AEM and LC1). If you were to allocate the dollars that way, I think you'd be a better place than if you blow the extra cash in the Garret up front.

Thanks for the positive comment. I'm on a budget, that's why I'm considering the china charger. I'll have to do the upgrades later. Megasquirt is on the menu though. Maybe by Christmas. Just wanna start out with 5-7 psi and enjoy that for a while. Not sure how much boost the china charger is capable of producing on a stock engine with no mods

I thought about that or even a eBay intercooler and fabricating the plumbing. I used the rest of my budget on a lower mileage motor I purchased yesterday. My motor has 244k on it now. Probably won't last a week under boost. Never know!

Are you running an NA or an NB?
There is a used megasquirt for the NB for $350 on classifieds section.
I think you save about $150 by deleting the BEGI rising rate fuel pressure regulator.
If you could swing the megasquirt and a wide band, and wait on everything else (like the intercooler), I think that would be the best route.

you can get begi intercooler piping and use ebay intercooler. some minor cutting/fitting will be required but you will save extra couple hundred $$ and LOTS of time.

I started to create another thread, but I didnt want to get anybody upset around here. Just wondering if there is something wrong with a Greddy kits, other than people saying the manifolds dont hold up? I searched the net and found a site where they sale the kits for about the same price as the Begi Shanghai kits. Here's the link
