433.1 hp on E85 pump gas
I tuned my car on E85 pump gas today. My stock fuel pressure regeulator limited me to only making 433.1 instead of the target of 550 hp. My Regulator needs to be replaced with a boost sensitive one. Basically The stock regulator crapped out after about 20 pounds of boost, and at the high end of the powerband it would start running a little lean. The gas is great though. Kinda smells like wiskey when it burns. Pretty strange. I ended up making 433.1 hp and about 400 tq at 19 pounds of boost safely today. Im working on getting the kinks worked out of the fuel system so I can finish tuning. The car wants to make power so bad. I just have to get it some more fuel. Here is a pic of the dyno sheet. Sorry that the Tq numbers arnt on there. Ill print one out that has it when we finish everything. Peak Tq on this map is around 3900 rpm. I am going to try to make the big power pull next week so the numbers will get alot better.
Ill post video later.

I love Tony A setup he did on a CRX inspired my daily drivers turbo kit design.
Anyways... adjustable FPR or stock? I eyeballed a honda fpr the other day... and it looks like it fits just fine. They handle pretty much any boost level you want... I'll probably be using one with a B&M regulator on it...

"Regular unleaded gasoline has an octane rating of 87; E85 has an octane rating ranging from 100-105 making it a high performance fuel. Ford FFVs produce a 5% horsepower gain when using E85."

I have a FFV 3.0 ranger, i swear i can tell the difference when using E85. The lower gas mileage is also significant though. I don't know about the miata but with many vehicles you can't run E85 unless they were designed to like the FFV Fords because it will damage the seals and a few other things supposedly.

That same site says this:
"A number of parts on the FFV’s fuel delivery system are modified so that they are ethanol compatible. The fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel injectors, computer system, anti-siphon device and dashboard gauges have been modified slightly. Alcohols are corrosive. Therefore, any part that comes in contact with the fuel has been upgraded to be tolerant to alcohol. Normally, these parts include a stainless steel fuel tank and Teflon lined fuel hoses."

Yes, the E85 has less power potential than gasoline, but it's also much higher octane. So if you can inject enough of it, you can run much higher boost and timing.
I read an article on it somewhere, and they showed acceleration figures for a GM Yukon/Tahoe on gasoline vs. E85 (the stock ECU adapts to the different fuels), and the E85 one was a couple tenths faster to 60 and through the 1/4.

Helacius numbers man even on an inferior fuel source

I dont wanna give up my 93 because some tree hugger is worried about a few hydrocabrons and before you say it is to ween our dependance on foriegn oil i call bullshit if we stopped destabalizing the oil producing markets, and built atleast 10 new refinarys and used the ones from wich we have built none since the 70's then our prices at the pump will go down significantly. Or did we all forget what happened when bush senior went to war in iraq the first time gas wet from 80 something cetns a gallon to 1.50$+ a gallon, but low and behold when we got out of there gas went back to 80 cents a gallon. Since juniur has been in office gas has gone up 2+ dollars a gallon from 94 cents 1$ a gallon just before.
We have plenty of oil, we just need to go get it leave the change of technology for the next generation, i wanna burn fossils, shoot guns, drink liquour look at ****, and, smoke cigars when ever and whereever i want and i'll be dammed if i will ever let the government control my life to that extent i would hope the rest of you would also stand up for your rights, in a similiar way. Becouse if we dont stand up then who will.
