I guess it could work if we made it like Facebook, with a "Like" button and a "Hate" button.

Cats as a "props"

we want to hate hate hate
lulz |

I suppose Joe has a point. They could add a thanks button. Then, it's just like facebook! You hit "thanks" for something you like, and report the post if someone is a dipshit. Easy peasy. I think the mods would appreciate a more direct form of informing them of undesireables.

OK, now I think I've solved it. See to left.

y8s idea of eggplants and cats for ratings is gold.

At the risk of creating yet another inside-joke that newbs don't get, here are the "like" and "hate" icons:

Confusion and inside jokes to both support and berate new people?

I was here so long before I understood the eggplant reference...

I created eggplant. +1 vote for cats and eggplants. Cats hate eggplant.

I don't think report is the way to go. A lot of posts deserve negative props, but don't necessarily break any rules.

Ok Joe, +https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...es-nyancat.png for you.

"Thanks" without some form of negative is facebook crap. No way to tell people to knock off the asshattery. It's a very important part of this forum, because it tells you who to take advice from, and who to take with a grain of salt, and who is just full of shit.
And, quite frankly it's a way to give recognition to a particularly good post, whether it is because of humor, good info or just a well made statement. It adds to the sense of community. |

Before this ever happened, I was considering making the statement, "I live for props", but it seemed silly. But, truth is, I like the whole prop thing.

+1 to @rleete post 78. I'd give a prop for that.
