Forum Updates
<p>MiataTurbo is the first test site for an update to vBulletin with several new features. Please report any feedback or issues with any of these in this thread.<br /><br /><strong>CKEditor with User Tagging</strong></p><p>So we now have a new text editor enabled as an option for testing. If you go to User CP > Edit Options > Message Editor Interface and change it to the Full CKEditor Editing. </p><p>This editor can understand BBCode and work similar to the old one but the source view is html and most html formatting options can be used. Copying and pasting from things like a pdf or word document will be able to match formatting as well. Normal editor shortcuts like CTRL+B for Bold, CTRL+U for underling, etc. now work. There is also a "table" option to insert a table. This editor also allows user tagging which means that using "@" and typing a minimum of 3 characters will bring up a username dropdown list to tag another user. The user will get a PM notification and a new tab on the user profile will keep track of all threads they have been mentioned in. Notifications need to be manually turned on right now with this setting under vBoptions: </p><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="3" style="background-color:rgb(223, 230, 238); color:rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:verdana,geneva,lucida,lucida grande,arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:11px; line-height:normal; width:100%"> <tbody> <tr> <td>You can choose to receive a Private Message Notification every time you are tagged in other users' posts.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>X Receive a Private Message Notification each time I am tagged</td> </tr> </tbody></table><p>There is an udpate coming to turn notifications on for everyone who has PMs enabled but we have it defaulted to off for early testing.<br /><br /><br /> <strong>Reply All to Private Messages</strong><br /><br />There is now a Reply to All button for private messages. We are working to update the button design to match the existing buttons but we will have to deal with blue button for now. </p><p><img alt="" src="https://i.imgur.com/D9vEgZU.png" style="height:117px; width:307px" /><br /><br /><strong>Content Embedding</strong><br /><br />Our latest update to the media embedding feature will allow for the following types of media embedding:Vine, Instagram, Facebook posts and video, Twitter, Google Maps </p><p>

<p>Some general embed features in html are disabled for security concerns. </p><p>But most formatting type stuff should work. </p><p>I am getting strange quote spacing issues and have the guys looking into it now</p>

This feature is going to be fun.

<p><span>@Braineack doesn't listen.</span></p>

<p>No #taghashing?</p><p>Tagging other users is a very nifty feature tho. </p><p>@cyotani <img alt="yes" src="https://www.miataturbo.net/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/thumbs_up.png" style="height:23px; width:23px" title="yes" /> (tagception)</p>

On an iPhone 5c, trying to use the table feature results in displaying just the upper left third of the box.<br />There is no way to close it besides going to the previous screen.

Will tagging replace props? Or is that temporary?
Please explain @brain… usage. At least on my iPhone, I don't see how to work it. |
My new attempt to use the @ function after following the instructions: @dnmakinson<br /><br />Nope. I would like guidance.

Man, I hope that thing isn't on borrowed time! @Schuyler (produces: <span>@Schuyler)</span>, check this out! |
<p>Type @ and three letters, and a list like this pops up if you are using the correct message editor.</p><p><img src="http://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.miataturbo.net-vbulletin/544x287/80-undefined_600e47a306372856911b9e19d3e7ee07bf13443a .png" title="" /><br /><br /> </p><p>Click it, and the text will change to:</p><p>
Code:
<utag=28480>DNMakinson[/utag] |
<p>I understand the function, and I want to use it. But mine and yours don't turn into the underlined link like Y8S did, so I don't think it is having the same effect, unless they are playing with links, not tags. </p><p>Never used Reddit. </p>
|
<p><span>@DNMakinson</span></p><p><span>yes, now the right editor has shown up.</span></p><p><span>thks <span>@Schuyler</span></span></p>

<p>Noooooo. Bring back props! My imaginary internet points are gone.</p>
|
WTF? Props was a good way top tell if a newbie was getting the message or getting spanked for being a dumbass.
And it was a way to thank those who provided good links, solid information, helpful advice, etc. |
Props was a great way to show good and bad posters. Why is it gone?
|
<p>i find that most "prop" type systems dont work as they arnt governed well. people use it to get back at others, they abuse it, etc. not on mt.net, the prop system here worked so well here, i used the hell out of it.</p><p> </p><p>my user cp shows a new option for enabling and disabling the "like system". my guess is, that like most forums, we are going the facebook way.</p>
|
<p>Can't find the like system.</p><p>Props was good because you could tell who to think twice about believing lol. Also. I want my imaginary internet points back.</p>
|
I thought props was hokey at first, but grew to really appreciate them. +1 to comments above.
|
That was the first thing I notices about the "updates" other than @aidandj tagging me like 6 times. I also miss the fake internet points :( For all the same reasons listed above.
Edit: Ok, fuck the @ thing  Mobile only or something? |
yeah i dunno why they pulled it. makes me sad.
i wish IB would go to xenforo, or off this old ass version of vbulletin that can't do anything cool. |
Some administrator you are. :giggle:
|
<p>Look. Nice try <span>@EO2K. Really though. Was it done on accident? Any notification from the admins about it? </span></p>
|
Goddammit.
|
Its on desktop only.
|
Well, I'm obviously ritardeded. What is the "correct editor" then?
|
First post in this thread.
<br /> <br />Does anyone else have problems with links not formatting when on mobile? Is this new? |

Saw that. Enabled it last week, hated it, turned it off. I thought that function was outside of that editor. Oh well :loser:

<p>Fuck internet points. I want non-flash youtube embedding. Flash sucks and it's retarded I have to enable it just to click on a video to open it on the tubes of your mom just to use an HTML5 player.</p><p> </p><p>Whoever designed the new editor should be shot. We have had color displays for decades, fucking use them.</p>
|
:rofl:I think the loud scream of anguish I heard randomly earlier this week was Vlad seeing his props disappear.
Now when we say "props" it is meaningless...meaningless!:crx: |
Props were my only way of knowing that I was still more popular than Braineack...

Its not just you, I've seen other guys with the issue as well. I think I saw it in Ben's thread earlier today? No @EO2K you saw me making fun of you. :giggle: The answer to your question was "go to miataroadster.com and filter by things miataroadster brand." I just put it in inconvenient URL form for you. ;) [edit] Clearly i don't know how to use the silly tagging thing. |
<p>I also absolutely hate this text editor. But maybe @IB Nolan can explain why they chose to remove props? If it was in fact not an accident or temporary measure.</p>

Now when we say "props" it is meaningless...meaningless!:crx: But yeah, kinda sucks, mainly because it was my way of knowing the cool newbs from the dumb ones.

Maybe if you tried a little harder you could get to something higher than 1/3 his post count. Like auto-posting some random, inane phrase in each new thread?
....completely forgetting about brain-bot |
<p>Whats up with the lack of communication between the people running the site and the users. Is there some background communication going on between the admins and the IB people? (@Braineack, @shuiend?) Or are they just ignoring this? It seems like they just pop in every once in a while.</p>

Since all of you gays are up in arms about props instead of getting married to each other I talked to Nolan about it. The plugin that did it was insecure and was getting hacked on several of their other forums. So they removed it to get rid of the vulnerability and are currently looking for a better way to do it. The best that they can do at this moment is a "thanks" button of sort. Would having that appease the masses, or do you all really want to give negative props to newbs?
