Post new to miatas.. couple ?'s

hey, i recently lost my old ride, and lisence.. im looking into getting a miata to turn into a fun daily driver/track/drift car. preferably 90-97.. any suggestions/tips? ive heard some stuff about the rear ends being weak, and low power... what would be the best way to solve these problems off the bat.
