Second Tri-Annual MT.net at The Lake BBQ, Get Together, and Not-So-Creepy Sleepover 2013

Well, it's here! Many have asked about it, others have dreamed about it, and a few of you still probably have nightmares about it (sorry about that). We are having another gigantic barbecue, party, hang out, and not-so-creepy sleepover!

I'll provide the house, the boat, and some food and drinks. Georgia Power Company provides the lake. Somebody will bring a grill. Other people will bring food and drinks. And there will be lotion, lots of lotion. There will be barbecue, drinking, boat rides, tubing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, drowning, chilling on the deck, perhaps a bonfire, and socializing with other MT personalities you always wondered about!

Last time we had a great time with Miataturbo.net members from Kentucky, Virginia, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia. Most of you are welcome! All MT.net regulars and lots of occasional visitors are welcome!

It will be the weekend of August 17-18.

There are a couple of beds and also plenty of floorspace for crashing. If you are afraid to sleep around us there are also a couple of hotels in the town nearby.

That sounds like a good time. I'll have to check the schedule and see if I can make that happen. I have never done a good ol' Southern "weekend at a lakehouse."

I will be utilizing a hotel, though.

Also, are there any women at this event?

There was a very lovely young lady at the last event. She had a very nice Miata as well.

Yes, women were at the last event and will be at this one, too. Don't be afraid to bring them. Most of us behaved as though we had seen a woman before.

Marked down on the calendar, definitely plan on making this one! The others always landed on planned vacations.
I will be bringing my wife, she doesn't have to work that weekend at this moment (damn nurse schedules).

I will be there for sure. Thats my last weekend of complete freedom before my last semester in the fall starts up. I may be bringing a lady.

Damn. I wish i knew a month sooner. I would of had my engine done quicker, it may even be done by then. But i'll be in the break in process.

Steve and I will be there! I sold my MSM last month though, so I guess we will have to settle with bringing the LS1 FD. :P

I'm excited. We had so much fun the last time.

No Miata? I'm sorry ma'am, but you just can't come if you don't have a Miata, hahaha!

It's great you guys will be able to get there. I would love to have an FD with a LS1. I have so much envy now.

As long as the universe doesn't hate me I'll come and bring a sandwich maker, a.k.a. cook, a.k.a. wife. Looks like I may also bring the fastest car that will make it. Rental car. Bring the envy.

I would really like to go. But that drive would be seriously brutal, and I'd have to start the "getting off work" process now.

We can probably arrange that. You will have to make the short jog to Tampa.

I'll gladly make that drive if I can carpool the rest of the way. I'll chip in for gas/food/beer/bears/magnums.

I'll go ahead and start working on getting the time off now.

Fly to Charleston and you can ride out in my mazda2.

I'm going to try hard and make this work. Plane tickets aren't cheap, so I'd rather drive to someone's place and carpool from there, if someone is okay with that. I'd also need someone to watch my dog for me.

How much floor space are we talking about here? I don't mind sleeping in a sleeping bag, but I'm not trying to sleep stacked in a laundry room with ten other dudes...

You should do the math on fuel and tolls from Key West to Sarasota. It might not be as big a cost difference as you are thinking. Especially if you drive the Viper.

Hell no, I'll be driving my truck. I've recently taken trips to Orlando, West Palm and Miami; just from memory I can say it will be a lot cheaper to just drive to someone's place around Tampa.

In which case I'm down like four flats.

We've got ample floorspace but not much furniture. Everybody should consider bringing folding chairs or lawnchairs for the deck, dock, fireside, and even inside. I only have furniture for eleven on the main floor.

Well, I know everyone here are a bunch of pussies, but the floor should be adequate furniture for sitting.

If I can find someone to watch my dog I'll be golden. Also need someone who is willing to let me tag along in their car and doesn't mind a super sweet minivan being parked at their house for a few days.

If here was on the way I could care less about a van and I'd have a dog sitter for you. Plus a carpool seat. I need to make sure my air mattress can survive a man pile and petroleum products though.

Anybody that can bring lawn chairs is encouraged to do so to ensure ample seating on deck/dock/around bonfire.

So I'm assuming the meet is still on.

Plan to bring:
Folding chairs + extra if I find some
Chef (wife a.k.a. sandwichmaker)
Air bed + stuff for it
Fastest rental car ever
Booze
Possibly kidnap fat person so we don't feel like the obese couple in swim suits

Just so you guys know if there aren't any single females there I will have a friend from Savannah drive over so I can bang her out in a free bedroom.

Do not be alarmed by the noises you might here or the sticky shower curtain on the floor, that is just my condom.

Does smoking a pork butt for everyone sound good? I figure it is cheap, easy to do, and can feed a ton of people.

I am tentative at best, so don't count on me. I try to never be that guy that says he's attending something if he isn't very confident he'll be able to make it.

If I go, I'll be staying at a hotel, so you won't need to worry about accomodations.

The list is getting long. I am seriously considering dragging the boat up there. That way we won't have to leave anyone behind, and doing the dreaded 'shuttle'.

Since I am taking the Miata I will be really only able to fit the things I will need for me and my lady but I was going to pick up some food and other supplies once we settled up there for the party.
