Plus, cheaper.

So, get another PC1600 4GB stick, or 3 more 4GB sticks?

This is just a sample of opinions on the topic. Here's benchmarks:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/sto...sd-vs-8gb.html

I'd go with an SSD and 2GB of RAM over a HDD and 8GB of RAM at this point.

Anyone running Windows 8 and liking it? The Lenovo refurb I bought came with it. I have a couple weeks to decide whether I like it as is (or as close to Win7 as I can make it) or return for a refund (and look for a Win7 desktop).

I get why Microsoft did the tiles on windows 8 but I still hate it. I'm now used to using it but I wont't own anything windows 8. Windows 8.1 will fix the biggest issue, lack of start menu and ability to boot to the desktop, but it should have had that option to begin with.

It will be free. If you don't find a start button you like in the app store, window key+x is very handy.

Win8 isn't terrible once you set it to boot straight to the desktop, add back a start button and menu, and turn off the various corner hotspots and charm bars.

Also, snagged an Radeon HD6450 for $25 on Amazon. I know, it's weak sauce, but it'll be a small improvement over the Intel HD2500 chip, it was cheap, it'll free up system RAM, and it'll allow me to use a DVI cable rather than VGA which looks terrible. And it won't tax the basically non-replaceable 280w PSU.

Update. Still running like a champ. I am so, so, so happy that you guys convinced me to do this. Nothing beats a long *** night at work and just coming home and firing this bad boy up for a few hours.

Honest question, is okay to throw my boxes away at this point? I still have all the boxes my parts came in, haha. I have no idea if it's a bad or good decision to get rid of those.

Alright guys, I have no idea wtf is going on. I logged into facebook to bash people on the miata pages, and I get this. All the windows are opened, nothing works, etc...

I tried it in Firefox and it's fine. I have no idea what to do.

Do other sites work? Facebook LOVES to break its own interface, they have the worst QA in the history of software companies.

Done the basics? Cleared cache, deleted all facebook cookies, turned off all browser and plugin extensions?

It's worth noting that Facebook just updated their interface -- notifications are now on the right side of the top bar, for instance. Your screenshot still shows the old interface.

Well that sucks. I used to frequent their retail store often.

I guess I have more influence than I realized. I decide to leave SD, as a result of which Geeks closes, Tony the Barber retires, the Mayor enters rehab... what's next?

So it is.

I wonder how that's gonna work... Having the retail store without the volume provided by the web store?
