This game is turning out to be one of the most epic fucking games ever. The classic fun of GTA, but with vastly improved everything. Graphics, physics, mechanics, music, ect. Fucking love it!
I hate that it doesn't do screenshots though. Pictures of the TV don't do it justice. A view from under the Vinewood sign on top of a mountain, overlooking downtown. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1379414866 Then this plane I managed to somehow steal after breaking onto airport property, stealing a utility truck, stopping the plane as it taxied the runway, hopped aboard and flew away. I tried to fly it under a bridge, but clipped a pole and lost power, forcing me to set it down in a drainage culvert. God this game is awesome! https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1379414866 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1379414866 There have literally been several times where I got this sick feeling because the right lighting and scenery made me feel like it was real. I've never had that experience with any game. And up close the graphics aren't even THAT good, but they pull it all together so well. Really amazing for the PS3 to pull that off. |

Sorry, with no PC version I can't get excited about this game no matter how hard I try. I'll probably pass on the shitty port that will be promised in 6 months but delivered in 12. |

And to be honest, rant and rave about the graphics all you want... They're not good. I'm sory. They just aren't. |

Pretty much.
And to be honest, rant and rave about the graphics all you want... They're not good. I'm sory. They just aren't. I'm normally a PC gamer but I bought a ps3 just for this. After playing it I can agree that it feels like I'm playing on very low resolution. Sure its pretty, just LOWWWW res. Textures are low res, no anti-aliasing, environment models are low-res. The world is huge and no loading - I love that. And I'm not playing this game for the graphics. They improved the persistence a lot - so cars don't magically disappear, etc. So it feels a lot more real. |
I'm sure what the game lacks in graphics, it makes up for in content.
Which is fine. I'm usually playing beta, and indie games that look horrid, but are super super fun. |
No PC version, NO care.
|
The graphics are low res, but they are certainly not bad. They use a lot of trickery to make it looks much better than it really is. Complainers.
|
I'm still undecided on which media I want this for ps3. Disc or download? I have upgraded to a 7200 rpm HDD.
|
You don't need great graphics for good immersion. Arma 2 is very immersive and it looks like shit.
|
Will be purchasing as soon as I get back from vacation. I LOVED the GTA games years back.

I bought the disk yesterday.
That was the first time I've played a game continuously for 8 hours in a few years. That said, I'm now reminded of why I dislike console gaming. The frame rate is stable most of the time... At 20 fps, and there's nothing I can do about it, whereas on PC I could upgrade the vidya card if needed. The resolution and draw distance rendering quality has caused me to sit closer to the TV so I can actually see what I'm shooting at/fixing to drive into. The driving physics: I personally would love some simulation-style driving physics, though we all know that's not what the target audience wants. I do enjoy the driving in this game though, except for the motor cycles. They seem very twitchy. I miss the vehicle damage rate from GTA 4. You could be speeding through the city and suddenly collide with a telephone pole, getting thrown from the crushed tin can that was your vehicle. In GTA 5, you can collide with immovable objects multiple times and suffer from nary a scratch it seems. |
Panic over. Discs showed up just now, installing as we speak. :yippee:

landing airplanes is impossible

I'm looking forward to taking a few days off work to play this game.
