This game is turning out to be one of the most epic fucking games ever. The classic fun of GTA, but with vastly improved everything. Graphics, physics, mechanics, music, ect. Fucking love it!
I hate that it doesn't do screenshots though. Pictures of the TV don't do it justice. A view from under the Vinewood sign on top of a mountain, overlooking downtown. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1379414866 Then this plane I managed to somehow steal after breaking onto airport property, stealing a utility truck, stopping the plane as it taxied the runway, hopped aboard and flew away. I tried to fly it under a bridge, but clipped a pole and lost power, forcing me to set it down in a drainage culvert. God this game is awesome! https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1379414866 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1379414866 There have literally been several times where I got this sick feeling because the right lighting and scenery made me feel like it was real. I've never had that experience with any game. And up close the graphics aren't even THAT good, but they pull it all together so well. Really amazing for the PS3 to pull that off. |

Sorry, with no PC version I can't get excited about this game no matter how hard I try. I'll probably pass on the shitty port that will be promised in 6 months but delivered in 12. |

And to be honest, rant and rave about the graphics all you want... They're not good. I'm sory. They just aren't. |

And to be honest, rant and rave about the graphics all you want... They're not good. I'm sory. They just aren't. I'm normally a PC gamer but I bought a ps3 just for this. After playing it I can agree that it feels like I'm playing on very low resolution. Sure its pretty, just LOWWWW res. Textures are low res, no anti-aliasing, environment models are low-res. The world is huge and no loading - I love that. And I'm not playing this game for the graphics. They improved the persistence a lot - so cars don't magically disappear, etc. So it feels a lot more real. |
I'm sure what the game lacks in graphics, it makes up for in content.
Which is fine. I'm usually playing beta, and indie games that look horrid, but are super super fun. |
No PC version, NO care.
|
The graphics are low res, but they are certainly not bad. They use a lot of trickery to make it looks much better than it really is. Complainers.
|
I'm still undecided on which media I want this for ps3. Disc or download? I have upgraded to a 7200 rpm HDD.
|
You don't need great graphics for good immersion. Arma 2 is very immersive and it looks like shit.
|
Will be purchasing as soon as I get back from vacation. I LOVED the GTA games years back.

I bought the disk yesterday.
That was the first time I've played a game continuously for 8 hours in a few years. That said, I'm now reminded of why I dislike console gaming. The frame rate is stable most of the time... At 20 fps, and there's nothing I can do about it, whereas on PC I could upgrade the vidya card if needed. The resolution and draw distance rendering quality has caused me to sit closer to the TV so I can actually see what I'm shooting at/fixing to drive into. The driving physics: I personally would love some simulation-style driving physics, though we all know that's not what the target audience wants. I do enjoy the driving in this game though, except for the motor cycles. They seem very twitchy. I miss the vehicle damage rate from GTA 4. You could be speeding through the city and suddenly collide with a telephone pole, getting thrown from the crushed tin can that was your vehicle. In GTA 5, you can collide with immovable objects multiple times and suffer from nary a scratch it seems. |
Panic over. Discs showed up just now, installing as we speak. :yippee:

landing airplanes is impossible

I'm looking forward to taking a few days off work to play this game.

Might pick it up for ps3 and pc later.

You can't do that. |

Love the game so far but, is it just me or is it a lot easier to die in this one? Also the cars seem to get damaged much easier now. Couple hits and the wheel is ready to come off.

Something else I noticed earlier, I have yet to be arrested. In all previous GTA's, I was as likely to be arrested as I was shot to death. If you came to a stop because of car damage, or fell down, the cops would rush you and hold you at gunpoint. Now, they just shoot to kill, no matter what. I've been shot to death for stealing a car, or even standing too close to a cop. WTF. |
I kind of like the fact that they don't explode so quickly. It makes it a lot more fun to use your car as cover when holding off a bunch of cops once you get yourself cornered lol.
Although it gets pretty tough to hold off the cops for very long after a few shots kill you. I guess it is a bit more realistic this way but I still find it annoying. |
Not wanting to give away spoilers, but was anyone slightly disturbed and yet a little excited when Trevor had to 'get some info' from the dude you had to break out? I love it so far. Love it. It's huge, looks pretty, I spent an hour just driving around and still haven't seen 2% of the whole map. I do think cars are damaged less easy like was said. Full frontal unto a truck and barely a scratch. Cops like to shoot at you for even the most minor of crimes (rockstar hit the nail on the head here :giggle: )
Only problem, how will I get to play gta this weekend with f1, alms and WEC all going on  |

Cool story of the day: I was allowed to enjoy this for 1.5 days before I tripped over a wire, pulled the console off of the cabinet and scratched the everlasting fuck out of the gta disc. Won't polish out and is now serving as a coaster, that's about all that it's good for now. I might actually kill myself now.
|
RIP Oscar

lol

There is a lot more stuff to do and f@k up in this one but it feels dumbed down.
Almost want to put a hockey helmet on every time I sit down to play. |

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1379806952 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1379806952 I'm not kidding at all. I've gotten good enough I should charge. Every few months my buddy comes over with a stack of his/friends discs. Haven't had one not clean up yet. Some just take longer. EDIT: I don't recommend the yellow discs. They can help, but 50/50 I need to fix the damage they can do. |

I watched that like 89 times and still laugh my dick off everytime.

So extreme sports are extreme in this game.
Also, hipster conversation made me laugh like a maniac sitting alone at home in the middle of the night. This game really kills my social life. |

People complaining about graphics, lol. I'd take a shitty looking game over a pretty one any day if it's more fun to play.

I figured out my “fps” problem. Switched from the 50” Sammy dlp to the 42” Panasonic plasma. Besides the substantial ~100ms reduction in input lag, the plasma renders fast camera panning and motion much smoother than the dlp. Same resolution, same connection, and no annoying dejudder processing. I am a confounded by the differences, as I’ve never noticed such a disparity between these two displays over the years I’ve used them. I can’t logically explain the reason for the difference either. Wobulation or color wheel speed? Maybe. To make up for the size difference, I just moved the couch closer, much closer.
Lol at the random situations Trevor is in when you switch to him sometimes. I didn't preorder, and still got a blimp. Woo. |

Then stick the foamy pad on and get some PlasticX. Use the foam pad wet and keep adding PlasticX ass needed. I've buffed out disc grooves finger nail thick. Made a disc that looked like it was used in a parking lot for a frisbee work perfectly. I'm not kidding at all. I've gotten good enough I should charge. Aww yisss, back in business. Time for some heists

I'm on the fence with this game, Ive been playing it like crazy, but I remember having way more fun in vice city. It just seems to me like they stuck so much crap in this game that it affects the quality of everything. I mean it does almost everything okay but not anything great, outside of the main story.
I do think the main missions are hilarious, and thats the main reason I continue to play, stats show Im almost done with the game, and I dont think once I beat all the missions Ill continue to play, until they launch multiplayer. |
After more time playing, I've lowered my initial rating from awesome to pretty good. There are a lot of things that make me wonder if they actually did testing on this game with people who weren't involved in the making of the game. So many things that could make the game more fun, than would have been easy to do, but they didn't. They also did away with some things that I loved in the older games. Car damage is worse (too hard to damage), you take body damage too easily, which is more realistic, but it takes away from the fun factor. Cops are too aggressive and will start a chase for virtually no reason, and will shoot you to death for crossing the street or looking at them wrong. Helicopters and motorcycles are awkward to control, cars are too fast. While being chased by the cops, even if the don't see you, they will turn around in the middle of the road for no reason to come right to you. So they do see you, but they don't, if you get what I'm saying. Police helicopters spawn in convenient locations to make your escape irritating. Cars are too heavy, and almost impossible to push, even with a big truck. A big truck in real life, or previous games would not be able to be blocked in by 2 cop cars. Now they get in front and behind and I'm stuck and I get shot to death. Almost none of the missions pay shit, and making money for me so far is slow and boring. Stories for the missions are kind of boring and flat.
I have more complaints to put into a bad, run on paragraph, but I can't think of them at the moment. |
Gun fights are more cover based than in the past, which I'm OK with. And it seems way easier to lose the cops, also not a bad thing if you like to go on random rampages.
get out of the direct line of sight and hit an alley, or ditch the car for a roof/trash can/etc. |

I also find it infuriating that the cops just shoot first. No arrest. Just kill. Oh, you bumps that lady. Death. They also somehow always know where I am. I can get out of "view" and hide in an ally, between walls, lights off, and all the cops on the map magically move my direction? Also I started a Miata Turbo gang on the Rockstar Social club. I'm Xbox and not sure if other platforms can mix on the club, but F-it. Shoot me names to invite and if someone wants to be leader I will battle tummy sticks for command. :makeout: |
Also random find. Apparently I'm told this will give real discounts in game if linked to social club. Haven't tried yet.

Weird, I'm finding it much easier to evade the cops in V vs the previous versions of the game.
A few quick turns, bail out of the car, hide behind a trash can, etc. I think losing the cops at 1 and 2 stars is about the same as IV, but 3 stars and up, the cops spawn in front of you, and know exactly where to find you. The only place I have found to escape them is in subway tunnels where they can't drive up to the entrance. You can watch them on the map all on top of your location, they are just too many levels up to reach you or see you. |
Ive lost them at 5 stars by driving around in a field. they dont spawn in fields, so as long as its a big enough field, you are good to go.
|
In one mission you need to steal a garbage truck. I go jump in the truck and get a star. I drive around trying to lose the cops, but they're so much faster and it's impossible to wreck them, so they just keep ramming me. As they ram me, I go to 2 stars, then 3 stars. I keep driving. Finally try to jump out to get in another car and I'm instantly killed.
It basically comes down to, if you get a star when stealing a slow vehicle, then you might as well just kill yourself because there is no other alternative. |
I need to do more missions and stop with the mayhem, lol. I just helped pull that dude's house down "Lethal Weapon style".
|
Best way I found to lose the cops is go off roading in the mountains. They will rarely keep up with you when you're up there.
