Singnal from mouse to computer, CPU to display chip, display chip to monitor, monitor to eyes, eyes to brain. Then what that total latency is once everything is added up. It couldn't be slower than a few milliseconds could it?

Once again, and to be entirely clear: I was referring to wake-up lag in getting the mouse out of sleep mode initially. Every one of the wireless mice I've ever used has required that I sit there and wiggle / click on it for a bit before it starts responding, and that's just a nuisance.

I know. I read your comment.

It was just a random thought really.

Ah.

Well, I have no doubt whatsoever that the greatest lag is in meatspace. Everything else can be measured in microseconds or less, but most of the studies which I have seen on human reaction time puts a full-loop response (eyes - brain - hand) at around 200-250ms. Here's one typical study: Human Benchmark - Reaction Time Stats

There's been quite a lot of academic research done on this exact subject. Wiki has a reasonably good primer on the science of mental chronometry in general: Mental chronometry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A few inches of mouse cord. The other end of the necessary connector should be included but isn't.

I was referring to the wake-up lag,
I'm not sure why those wireless mice that you tried took so long to wake up. A large part of my job is designing embedded systems. Microcontrollers typically take a matter of microseconds to wake up. (It's not as though they need to load gigabytes data into ram from a cranky old hard drive.) Powering up LEDs is a few more microseconds.

Maybe it was a matter of re-establishing wireless communication? I don't know. The Logitech M705 on my desk behaves just like a wired mouse as far as I can tell. Just no wire.

Cute.

Now weigh the battery, smartass.

Or, better yet, the complete assembly.

I can't say I notice the wake-up lag either. If it's there, then it's short enough that by the time my computer is bringing up the log-in box, the mouse is ready to go.

Porker, not that it bothers me.

My store office computer has a microsoft media mouse and keyboard kit whatever it is.

It takes literally SECONDS of me fiddling with it to wake it too, connects via bluetooth though, whereas any logitech radio wireless mouse I had took a simple nudge.

However, I am quite pleased with my logitech M300, I love that fucking mouse.

Wait a minute.

Really?

I never understood this. I can swipe the entire length of my screen with 50% of the full motion of my wrist. That's if i'm moving it slow too.
The fact that the mouse cord is bothersome is just mind boggling to me.

Well, kind of.

I'm using a wired mouse right now and it's not a problem.

But sometimes, depending on the physical layout of the desk/computer/mouse, it seems like the mouse cord is always dragging against something or pull against the edge of the desk or just generally being a nuisance.

I've been using a coolermaster Xornet for about a year now. It looks funny but is comfortable as shit. Had a MX518 before this.

The overall shape looks close to the mx518, just with that little pinkie/ring finger bump on the right side.

This oughta last me for a couple decades:

And yet, I am tempted to buy even more. I don't want to risk ever being without one...

They've even got the new mouse smell.
