I own both systems but find myself using the 360 a lot more. The controller on the 360 is so much better than the PS3. In addition, I don't mind paying for Xbox Live, it's that much better than the PSN Network.

I think the ps3 never lived up to the hype, or no one wanted to spend the extra time to utlize its capability. Somehow the xbox 360both has always managed to hang with it. I have both, and I play on both.

That's the thing with the PS3, all it was was hype. The ps3 was supposedly more graphically powerful on paper, but compare Uncharted 3 to Gears of War 3 for the 360 graphics wise. In my opinion, both look amazing, and it be hard for you to argue one system is more powerful than the other based on those two games.

The one thing I will say about the PS3, it hasn't died on me like my 360. I do use my 360 about 80% more of the time, but after 5 years (I had a launch system) it died last week. Luckily, I was able to spend 125 bucks on a 4gb Slim and toss my old hard drive in there with a simple mod. The Slim runs a lot more quiet and now I have wireless too so I'm not really complaining.

I'm with you on that, I just use my ps3 for blurays. The only games I have for my ps3 are Uncharted 1-3.

Not that it never lived up to the hype, it's that it hasn't yet. It's still probably pretty early in this life span of current gen consoles, at least for the PS3, which most games are not even approaching it's full capabilities.

Me being a HUGE Metal Gear Solid fan, have to show the latest of what Kojima Productions has to offer on the PS3. Their new FOX engine, which is rumored to be the backbone of the again rumored MGS5 in the works. Kojima always keeps a tight lid on his masterpieces.

Real time rendering of their board room using the FOX engine. ------- impressive for a console if you ask me. They have always done magic with consoles, especially late in their lives. MGS2 and MGS3 were probably the best looking games on the PS2, by a pretty large margin if you ask me. Early in the PS3, MGS4 looked very impressive. Probably the best looking game up to that point in time. I have no reason to believe MGS5 will be any different.

Anyway, my point is that while currently the 360 and PS3 produce similar graphics and game play with exception to controller design, in the future the 360 will hit a cap, and the PS3 will be able to continue advancing the front line of what is possible on this current "gen" of console. Plus you have to think of how many games are developed to run on both consoles. They aren't going to make two different games, so they have to design it to the lesser of the two consoles capabilities *cough, 360...

Demos of any engine are misleading because they do their best to showcase the strengths of that particular engine in the best light. Once you add physics, AI controlled characters, and a ton of other things onscreen, it hardly ever looks as impressive as the original engine demo.

I brought up Uncharted 3 and Gears of War 3 specifically because they're exclusives, and showcase the strengths of each console. I don't think you could argue Uncharted 3 couldn't be done on the 360 and vice versa. We're going on year 7 of the 360 which is pretty crazy for a console, and no one I know is dying for a new console. One of the reasons? The 360 nailed it with their online community and functionality. It's not perfected, but compared to the PSN, it's light years ahead.

NA6C-Guy 03-04-2012 12:24 PM

The 360's online functionality is the only thing about it that is better than the PS3, to me anyway.

As I already stated, and as you can see with your own eyes if you look, Kojima Productions always does amazing things with consoles right when people think they have reached their limits. Whether or not it ends up exactly like that engine, it will still be one of the most impressive looking games on any current console.

My faith in Kojima has waned over the years. To me, MGS 4 was a let down, but I will say Peace Walker was pretty solid. I think the more he tries to push production values, gameplay suffers as a result.

Personally, can't wait for Mass Effect 3 to be released on Tuesday! Kinect functionality looks like it might actually enhance gameplay based on the videos (I refuse to play the demo).

I owned a PS3 for 2 years, then traded it for an xbox because more of my friends have xbox. IMHO the ps3 was so much better.

Bluray, wireless wifi, not having to worry about batteries, free online access, and the controller just felt a lot better in my hands. Granted, you can buy upgrades to solve a lot of those problems, but still its nice to have them by default.

Xbox has wireless now, and I've banned 90% of the people posting from ps3s. As you said, more online fun with xbox.

Not sure how you could see MGS4 as a let down. That was one of the most brilliant games I have played in my entire life.

What is this new fangled technology you speak of? WiFi with NO WIRES?!?

HOW?? :P

I have a PS3, my mate has an XBox, from playing on both they're much of a muchness, but the online is light years better on the XBOX.

That doesn't bother me though as I never play online :)

NA6C-Guy 03-05-2012 01:11 PM

In my opinion, if you want online gaming... play it on PC. Some of the only online games I have played on console is in the Halo series, and Forza.
