Remember SpinTires?

Then came MudRunner...

Just saw the next game is coming out in few days...

It's basically CS 1.6 (or even CSGO) and overwatch blended together.

It is fantastic fun. I'm almost positive it will be the next big game. And i'm sure there will be esports leagues for it.

Been playing a lot of Hades ever since COVID hit

Anyone buy flight simulator?
Anyone have a computer even capable of running it?

From what i understand the engine needs a bit of work. But they plan on updating it and supporting it pretty well in the future.
I really hope they add VR support.

triple88a 08-27-2020 03:30 AM

Was watching some stream.. the invisible walls are huge. Some guy was trying to hug a mountain.. must have been like 200 meters away and hit the kill zone.

Caterpillar 08-27-2020 04:33 AM

Have been playing a lot of Warzone and CSGO since COVID. And replaying the Dark souls games.

sixshooter 08-27-2020 07:35 AM

I've been playing GoodGame Empire. It is a giant live action game similar to Age of Empires with tens of thousands of players worldwide. I'm on the US1 server.

Godless Commie 08-27-2020 09:28 AM

Elk fillet mignon wrapped in wild boar bacon.
Best game dish I have ever had.

Fall guys is the new craze. I have the perfect rig for the intense graphics in that game.

Lol. Does anybody ever use a big fish tank to circulate water through their water cooled computer? I would think that would be a logical extension of the idea of water cooling.

Erat 08-28-2020 01:55 PM

It's been done. (Cooler) with and without ice. It works well for a while. But you still need a way to expel heat.

nxa2498 09-02-2020 04:13 PM

There's even motherboards designed to be full submerged under water.

As in, using a fish tank with fish and such as a reservoir so you will clog the heat exchangers with fish poo? Or just use a big tank with coolant as reservoir? Filling up, and emptying the reservoir would be a bitch.

If you want to use a fish tank, you need this stuf

I think the word you are looking for is "filter".

A fish tank 'filter' is more for holding an ecosystem of bacteria that break down particles in the water than actual fine filtering, poo is one of those particles. The water coming out of that filter still has all kinds of particles in it, including small pieces of residual poo. Its not a fine micron filter, it's a sponge.

Would be fun to do it with those self moving toy fishes!

Whos playing Valheim?

Girz0r 02-23-2021 03:37 PM

I've been playing a lot of Hunt: Showdown and streaming it on twitch [/girz0r] in my free time.

After buying a Trak Racer rig a few months ago, instead of waiting I finally said to hell with it and ordered everything else yesterday. Entry-level Fanatec stuff, 3x34" curved 1440p 144hz monitors, prebuilt PC with a Ryzen 9 3900X, 1TB NVMe, 16gb of RAM, and an RTX 3080.

Erat 05-07-2021 04:44 PM

Seesh, that had to of been expensive.

z31maniac 05-07-2021 04:50 PM

It was definitely not cheap. But I have a nice bonus coming next month that will take care of most of it, I'm a few months ahead on the mortgage, that's why I said to hell with it.

Although I'm questioning myself on the ultrawides now, I may send them back and just get 32" 2560x1440 monitors.

And I sold the NC so I don't even have a car at the moment. The lady and I are both working from home permanently so it works out nicely for me to this rig built and then get some saved up for whatever I end up with next.

Erat 05-07-2021 04:55 PM

I used a friend of mines 34" LG ultrawide to race for a bit. It was a lot of fun and i didn't see the need for any more monitors.

I wish VR didn't go down the path it did.

z31maniac 05-07-2021 04:59 PM

My previous setup years ago was 3x27" 1080p monitors sitting on 6' foldable picnic table. No way I could do just one. Not even the 49" Ultrawides...........you just don't get the right FOV without having something in the peripheral.

So this time I'm doing it right, will do the proper FOV calculations and all that stuff.

With so much of the "gamer" scene seemingly focused on fancy PC cases with colorful interiors, the Final Boss appears:

triple88a 05-18-2021 06:10 PM

So i'll be getting an Oculus Quest 2. Goal is racing games like Assetto Corsa and Project cars 2. maybe some rally but i'm very shit at rally.

For starters i'll be using a rig made of wood but eventually i plan on making it with extruded metal. hopefully the 5nM Fanatec DD wheel releases soon. Currently i'm using a g25 with bunch of mods.

Spaceman Spiff 05-18-2021 06:11 PM

You've got to at least try iRacing if you're interested in the VR side

z31maniac 05-20-2021 01:11 PM

Still have to finish adjusting and tightening down the monitors, have to pull the pedals since I forgot to plug in a cable, then download drivers and get everything configured.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e16b10f684.jpg

triple88a 05-20-2021 05:29 PM

Which stand is that? For now i'm looking at the stands that have only support that goes straight ahead of you without the side supports. I dont have much room so if i can store it close to the wall it would be very good. As i said i'll be using VR for display.

Basically a stand similar to this design but with chair and not shit flexible.

Erat 05-20-2021 06:00 PM

Would a playseat be good for you? That's what i have. It's okay with some modification. Still wouldn't use it for endurance racing.

triple88a 05-20-2021 09:43 PM

Nah not the ones with the bar that goes between your legs.

I've been keeping eyes on this but reviews say they are very flimsy so thats a pass.

Until i figure out a mount, i'm hooking up the wheel to my desk.. i just spent close to 4 hours on assetto corsa in VR.. didnt even realize it. It drives incredible. Quest 2 is 330 after tax and you need another 20 bucks cable to hook it up to the computer.. Man o man

z31maniac 05-21-2021 08:42 AM

This rig:

Plus this monitor stand:

triple88a 06-17-2021 01:28 AM

I'm starting to get used to the VR headset.. an hour every day or every other day and in no time you'll be in there racing for 3-4 hours... man this is so worth the 300 bucks.(330 after taxes)

Today I spent 4 hours in VR.. not feeling sick at all.

How is PC2? I've downloaded AC and Dirt Rally 2.0, but haven't really played them. Mostly focus on iRacing.

I tried dirt Rally 2.0 track races and having a lot more fun with pc2 and AC. AC is customizable moddable but lacking story mode.. basically customize your race and send it however you want it, pc2 seems more of a career style game.

Dirt Rally 2.0 rally races are a whole new animal and i'm horrible at it lol.

triple88a 06-25-2021 05:00 PM

Got a chance to try Dying Light with the VR headset.. holly hell.

99mx5 06-25-2021 06:39 PM

Just a heads up Automobilista 2 is on sale for $20 on Steam. Very good VR support.

triple88a 07-01-2021 02:02 AM

I also got american truck simulator working on vr.

So you like, literally just drive a semi around? I have to say, that sounds incredibly boring.

I just got in a RX 6800 yesterday. Been searching for a new vid card since last fall. Time to see how many FPS I get in l4d2 at 4k.

If you're looking for the ultimate in video game boredom, Desert Bus has recently been re-mastered as a VR title, and is available, for free, on Steam.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/6...Desert_Bus_VR/

What is Desert Bus, you may ask? Well, in the mid 1990s, blaming video games for all manner of violent and antisocial behavior was nearing peak intensity. As they are wont to do, Penn & Teller decided to capitalize on this phenomenon by mocking and exposing it as hysterical nonsense. As a part of this campaign, they produced a completely nonviolent, entirely inoffensive videogame which was intended to be released as part of an anthology entitled Smoke and Mirrors for the SegaCD console.

Unfortunately, the game's publisher, Absolute Entertainment, went bankrupt prior to the release. Which is just as well, given how the SegaCD fared.

In 2005, a review copy which had been sent to a journalist 10 years earlier surfaced, and it was promptly ported to various emulators and platforms.

Desert Bus is such an amazingly un-fun videogame that it has gained a cult following of the sort typically reserved for Ed Wood films. It's become the focus of an annual charity event called Child's Play, which is similar to a fundraising marathon, except that everyone just sits and plays the game.

What does gameplay consist of? Well, you drive a bus from Tuscon to Las Vegas. In real time. At 45 mph.

About four and a half hours into the game, an insect splats on the windshield. That is the extent of the action.

Here's a playthrough of the original:

And the VR remake:

Glorious.

Yes and no. parking and stuff can get entertaining. Also... flooring it the entire trip makes things exciting. Also multiplayer makes things pretty exciting too.

triple88a 07-05-2021 04:17 PM

Anyone else getting this?

triple88a 08-04-2021 03:33 AM

Not sure if this belongs here or the cooking thread.

triple88a 09-02-2021 04:32 PM

Made a dedicated driving rig setup. Once i get my CSL Direct Drive wheel i'll paint it. Not sure if i'll need to move things now. Eventually i'll move to metal.

Nice! How do you like the VR? I've been resistant to buy one even though my compy will handle it easily.

With my 3-32" curved G5 monitors and how close I'm able to get the center one, I have like a 165* FOV

I tried racing on my 28" 4k monitor, meh. the VR headset makes it a lot funner, a lot more immersive. I wouldnt use it for professional multiplayer events that you cant pause though. The headset is reliable yes but not 100% reliable. I've had it disconnect here and there.
I've played assetto corsa, project cars, american truck simulator on the headset and having tons of fun. the 3d is pretty incredible. Took me a while to get used to it, i would feel sick in the beginning but now i'm ok for driving games.
VR is pretty intensive. I run a gtx1080 with a 9900k and my system pushes out about 60fps on assetto corsa on selectively high settings. I have quest 2 which can do 120hz refresh rate.

On the topic of similar games - does anyone have any recommendations for PC online coop multiplayer games? Family (3 of us) is not really into mining/crafting type games, and is just getting into gaming in general as something we can do together. We play quite a bit of Phasmophobia and my daughter and I play Splitgate, but my wife is still getting acclimated to using a keyboard and mouse and is quickly becoming tired of getting destroyed in PvP/PvE games. I'm thinking of trying Left 4 Dead 2 since it has a campaign mode.

Did finally retire the old rig (GTX 760/Ryzen 5) and upgraded to an EVGA RTX 3070/i7 setup. Plan is to stuff the guts of the old rig into a rack mount server case and use it in the home theater.

triple88a 09-08-2021 02:43 PM

In somewhat of a list:
Check out Valheim. It's actually a lot of fun and the survival isnt like any other game i've played in the past. I can get you guys mats too, got a a lot.

Now regarding gore games..
Left 4 dead is ok.
Highly recommend dying light 1 (coop up to 4 players). Good prep for DL2. Not sure how young the kid is but it's gory.
Try applying for the beta for back 4 blood which is apparently a new version of left 4 dead. I tried it, wasn't a fan but everyone is different.
The Forest is also very good.

Personally I play World of Warcraft Lich King edition on a private server. if you like those types of games, i highly recommend you look into it... free... Warmane.com

Driving coop games..
snowrunner is fun. Driving giant trucks in the mud. it can be a slower game though.

Shooting shooting games mechwarrior 5 (coop up to 4) Some folks just made vr mod for this, haven't tried the new version of the mod yet so cant say how good it is.
mech warrior online is a multiplayer pvp game 12vs12. free
Armored Warfare is tank game. Also has coop. You drive a tank and kill other tanks. free
World of tanks is hard team pvp tank vs tank game. free

Thats a decent list that should get you started.

Well one 28" monitor would always suck. Even my rig from years ago had 3 - 27" monitors, the 3 1440p 32s are pretty awesome. My worry is doing the longer races, like in iRacing, the higher class MX-5 cup races are 45 minutes, not sure I'd be good wearing a big VR headset that long.

That's good to read. Another thing for me is my poor eyesight requires glasses, not sure how that would work for a VR setup.

It's hard for me to wear contacts anymore as my allergies (even on daily allergy meds) just wreck my eyes.

How bad are your eyes? I cant see far, -1 so not too bad. if you need more they make prescription lenses that you can put over the regular lenses for about 100 bucks. I can only speak for the quest 2 though, i'm not sure what the lenses for other vr headsets run

IIRC, my glasses and contacts (I haven't tried in years) are in the -7 range.

IE, I'm basically legally blind without correction.
