damn...how bad is it to actually do this after paint?

Why risk it. Do it before paint man.

some of us don't need to repaint for a while... we just want more meat under the car ;)

I already did the paint...:(

However, it if cracked, I have enough left that I'd just have to sand and redo it. :\

just heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun before you do it.

miatamania 06-27-2007 02:49 PM

good point, like the Asian did on that ugly ass 240 thing.

your paint aint cured yet. i doubt it will crack with heat, but it may mar like an SOB.

cjernigan 06-27-2007 04:08 PM

I'll probably have to roll mine a little when i put new rubber under the car. Hoping the right tool and some heat will keep my paint sound. it would be nice to get away with just doing the very top part though.

miatamania 06-27-2007 05:28 PM

oh well, if it needs it when I get there I guess I'll just wait till I get to that bridge.

The key is not to try and fold the metal too far. You can't expect to fold the lip back up flush with the inner fender and have the paint not crack. Folding the lip back so it points up at a 45 degree angle makes a world off difference and will usually result in no cracking if heat is used.
