I would personally use a drill or bore reamer for the valve cover. Though you can use a flycutter for boring out a hole if you have a small enough tool holder that allows for a steep enough angle of the cutting tool itself so that it can be sunk into the hole. For things like this intake mani, I don't have a large enough drill or reamer to open this up, the fly cutter works fine even though it is supposed to be used for flat surfaces.


I would only do it with a soft material such as aluminum but in a pinch it works. I never said it was the best tool for the job.

come build me an exahust and you can use the drill press. got all the bits.

90080-19015 Toyota COP measures to .960" at the largest spot that would be inserted into the valve cover.

99-00 valve cover spark plug hole measures out to 1.017"
