I share no details on the install, unless Ben gives me permission.

I also am eager to get an 01+ bumper and have it color matched. 1 thing at a time.

There are no secrets to the installation. Remove old, install new, wire up. It's straightforward. However, you will need to add a relay if you expect to be able to use halogen high and low beams. I've got HID coming, and suspect that running HID low and halogen high simultaneously will be in the capability of the OEM wiring harness. But if not, I'll add a relay.

Fitment is not perfect with the 99 bumper, but it's certainly not bad. Totally passable for stock to the non miata obsessed/casual observer.

Sorry for the dirty car. I did actually wash it 2 days ago, but today I ran it through a misty rain for a couple of hours, including 2 or 3 miles total of non paved, hard packed dirt road before the photos were taken.

Looks good to me. Might have to chalk that up as something I want to do within the next year.

That fit is really nice. It goes well with the 99-00 bumper, I wouldn't change it.

Fitment is a ton better than I thought it would be. The late Fritch, rest his soul, stated that 01 headlamps fit horribly on his 10AE, but mine pulls it off just fine. I don't feel like I *have* to get the 01 bumper. But I want it. The front cover itself is cheap enough, but I'm going to lurk in the shadows for a large lower lip or MSM front lip to come up and get it all sprayed at once then add it.

Pretty nice. I've seen pics at miata.net of other 99-00 with the later headlights and the gap between the bottom of the headlight and bumper cover looked much bigger.

Looks good! Just curious where you got the lights and roughly what you paid for it.
I've been looking for a while but seems that I can't find them for less than $400.00 a pair for some China knockoffs...

Can ya shed some light for all of us?

Thanks,
Prospero

That looks fantastic, the others I've seen leave a large gap under the headlight assembly, what is your secret?

I got the lamps off ebay. Something like $350 total, but I also will be getting the Live.com cash back. I wanted to get MSM lamps, but they would have been like twice as much for a pair of good used ones. Spent an additional $20 or so on pigtails to make PNP type harnesses. Yes, I know I could have cut and spliced the connectors, but I wanted to make them PNP.

No secrets. Doppleganger and I do good work, what else can I say?

Hmm, if replacing the headlights is all it takes to make it look like that, I may have to reconsider which years I'll accept for my next miata...

Great pictures, by the way.
