Nope wont work, the 1.8 is a stratched 1.6 so they are imcompatible.

Yep, the 1.8 is physically larger so the head, manifolds, etc. (anything that is part of the longblock really) won't work together.

If it were a Honda (got the idea from you, hustler) they would be incompatible on a B-H series level.

Figured but i know i remember reading something about a head swap....must've just been the "high flowing" '99 head to another 1.8?

Thanks,
Brian

1.8's will swap the 94 -> 97 bottom end with all heads, the same with the others... The biggest issue is with the 01+ heads with the VVT... you need something to control it.

The 99/00 with VCIS... will swap to an M1 1.8 without issue... you just need to swap the CAS in, and make sure you have something to control the VCIS... a solinoid or something like that... <G>

Well documented on m.net and solomiata... <G>

Sometimes I wish I found a 99 head for mine when I put the used 1.8 bottom in... instead of a low-mileage 97. The advantage was price and availability... since I got the head from a buddy who was doing a motor swap at the same time. <G>
