90 Ecu

where is the ecu in a 1990 miata? is it under the dash and is it hard to get to? also do i have to drop my tank to put my walbro fuel pump in?

Braineack 03-13-2007 10:20 AM

under the passenger feet, pull the carpet up and take off a few 12mm (maybe 10mm) nuts.

no, read my projects link for instructions. it's about a 15-30min job.

Brain's pointed it out....

Panel on the rear parcel shelf allows you access to the fuel pump....

ECU for the 90's is under pax floor panel under dash....

That said.... you should consider finding a workshop manual, it will help you find these things in future, and give you the right "process" for troubleshooting etc......

Dave,

is there a pax floor on the rear shelf for the fuel pump to cause i took out the push clips for the carpet and pulled that back and its all isolation

Pull up the insulation and remove the plate behind the driver seat(USA Model)

rip that junx up, and unscrew the panel. unplug the wires and hoses, unscrew the pump, rip it off, cut the tube, fit the new one, clamp the hose, reinstall.

90miata 03-15-2007 10:26 AM

yea i guess haha thanks guys

Q: I just purchased and installed my unit. Unfortunately the VFD screen does not light up. The arrow keys do light up. What is the problem?
A: Although there can be many factors to this, there are three probable reasons for this situation. 1- During installation, the unit was either wired incorrectly or shorted. Electrical shorts can happen in an instant without any noticeable signs. Please be careful. Once the unit has been shorted, there is nothing that A'PEX can do to repair the unit. It must be replaced or purchased again. 2- Make sure that both grounds have been properly connected. 3- Although rare, the units are mass produced in large quantities and defects can happen. If the steps above do not correct the situation, kindly repack the unit with all original components and return the unit to the dealer of purchase accompanied with original receipt (Required to process requests). Warranty claims for electronics must be made within 30 days of purchase.
from safc website but i still think you have a ground issue.

90miata 03-17-2007 07:16 PM
