Default 96 Coils on a 1999??

Hey,

Anyone ever try 96 coils on a 1999? I have searched both here and m.net and didn't find the answer (nor did google or yahoo) My local friend has a 99AE and we suspect his CP is bad but we wanted to verify--I have a 96 pack we could swap in easily.

The connectors and packs look the same but the PN's are different as is price. They are both three wire and the trigger wires are in the same location- the other two wires are different colors but look to be the same same gauge wire...

IIRC the 1999 coils are identical to the 1.8 94-97 coils. They sure look identical on the outside, but I could be wrong.

94-97 coils aren't even identical to 94-97 coils. they are broken up into 94-95 & 95.5-97. The tach signal no longer is taken at the coil starting with 95.5. on the outside, 95.5-97 coils look just like 99/00 coils but I have no idea of know if they use the same dwell times.

94/95 coils can be used on 96/97 i believe but 96/97 coils on a 94/95 will lose your tach gauge.
