Before I stored my 99 for the winter someone backed into my car trashing the front bumper. I was looking at getting an 04 or 05 bumper since their insurance paid over and above I started thinking going that route if it fits. I have called around and have been told 8 different things about fitment, from the parts diagram I have the mount placement all looks the same. My question is has anyone done this and will it work? I dont want to buy then have to try to sell it if it does not work.

 

get the 01+ bumper and lights to go with it.
done it on many cars. will work perfectly.

 

Yeah the lights are a different shape.

 

When I changed my well worn bumper I also "needed" a new air guide (the old one was "bumped" to pieces), mostly because I was too lazy to make my own custom one, but nothing else fitment-vise.
The newer lower lights have tabs on the lower edge where the bumper skin rests (it fits better).
The bumper skin would work with the older lights (ugly fitment I imagine), but the headlight upgrade is well worth it (even for a race car). Finally you get lights which make you see something in the dark.

Noting new and can be found by searching, anywhere.

 

thats what i thought i found a place that has the bumpers and light but they told me there is now way they will direct fit and i know they are different but they mount the same just double checking before i place the order. thanks for the confirmation everyone not trying to make mine a mazdaspeed just like the bumper and the lights better than the 99 figured id use the insurance money on that and do the work myself. ill post pics when its all done. have to wait for all my tools that where stolen to be replaced by my insurance company before i can install all my new goodies, tein coilovers and 15x8 6uls are coming just have to order bumper and lights, if anyone has the bumper or lights laying around let me know ill buy them for sure.
