and what is it for?
It's one of the bolts that holds the oil pump onto the engine. Without it, it is likely that you will have a very slow oil leak from the mating surface between the oil pump and the block.

The proper size is M8x1.25x45mm. It's a bit of an oddball, so if all you can find at the local ACE Hardware is a 50mm bolt, just drill a spacer out of some aluminum stock. You could probably even stack up some flat washers.

Damn. Which bolt on the bracket is the bolt in question? I'm guessing the one that was hardest to get out and not zinc plated in the centre? Is there a Mazda part number for it, or can I just reuse the bolt I pulled out (probably not since the AC bracket acted as a spacer)

Does it happen to be one of the 99794-0850 bolts?

Thanks for the info.

In your picture, it is the left-most '0850 bolt. You can re-use it if you put a spacer under it equal in thickness to the portion of the compressor bracket that it went through.

This is the last of parts I have to remove to get rid of AC. Is one of these for the rad fan and one for the condenser fan? If so, which one can I get rid of? I'm finding mixed results as some people are saying they are both for AC and others say they're for both fans.

They're both on the driver-side fender

You can find out for yourself by jumping the two THICK wires in each relay plug.

I would, but the car is in pieces.

Part 18 in this diagram shows 2 relays PN - H31067740
http://www.miata.net/garage/AirInstall/AirParts.pdf

Part number for the rad fan relay is B15067730 which is different than the two listed

Anyone know where the relay for the rad fan is so I can test it? I'm not at home right now to go poking around.

They are both A/C. One drives the compressor magnetic clutch the other is the condenser fan.
