Default Advise me on rollbars

I'm looking for a rollbar that allows full use of softtop (plastic zipper window) and hardtop, has a harness bar (or can have it added), has one main hoop and preferably a single diagonal. I don't want rear view to be obstructed too much either.

what are you guys running?

this is mainly for street and mild track use btw.

Rear view with the top down is unobstructed using the side-mirrors. I havent' had a rear-view-mirror on my Miata in 4 years. I can't speak for a hardtop... but with the rvm in the stock location, I found a significant portion of forward viewing was blocked. I moved the rvm to a very low position on the windshield so it was under my single-diagonal for awhile, and then removed it completely. There was never any transition phase. With no rear pillars, a properly aligned side-view-mirror gives a full view directly behind you. You'd be surprised how much more you "see" with no rvm cluttering up the windshield.

As far as rollbars, any unit by Boss Frog, Hard-Dog, or Autopower that you like the looks of and meets the requirement for your particular racing application is the way to go. Here is the place to look at all the production rollbars in one place: http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda...Roll-Bars.html
Don't forget enough SFI45.1 padding to cover the forward face of the entire hoop and the diagonal.

I've been looking around at good-win-racing indeed.

I bet shipping is going to be a bitch..

I like the hard dog bars too.
the choice will be between the M1 hardcore hardtop and a hard bar sport with harness bar..

I sent bethania an e-mail, shipping would be around $380, same as good-win-racing.

I can't justify that amount for shipping a $350 - $400 bar atm...

flyin miata does free shipping once in a while on hard dog bars. I've got a hard dog sport single diagnal and visibility is fine. Works fine with my soft top zipper vinyl window.

FM does free shipping during January.

Love my Hard Dog M2 dual diagonal. Its not a hard core but it is plenty far from my head for regular driving. I don't always wear my helmet like some of the guys here.

I can get a full cage for less than $1000, but I don't want that, not for the street. Just a decent rollbar, but the only kind of 'rollbars' we have here are the chrome stylebars

hey oscar - looks like you and me in the same "boat" I would also like a roll bar but for me the shipping was more than the roll bar ! by about 200 usd more than your quotes !

I am getting a GT40 replica builder to build one for me on CAD and then off to a engineering shop to get it made - pm me with your email address and I can send you the CAD files (autocad 2006 or 2007) once its done and then you can get one replicated for yourself - it will be a while though

I'll probably bite the bullet and cough up the extra money for shipping, just not now
plenty of things still left to do anyway..

after some thinking, I'm probably getting a hard dog hard bar sport w/ harness bar, harness and harness pads shipped from bethania-garage
racing seat came in last week too, so more fabricating for me
