AFM swap?
Hi all! Another noob here. In my curiosity I kinda destroyed the afm for my 1.6l miata.... and I was kinda wondering if I could just plug and play a 1.8l's AFM into it without many problems.... I am assuming its my broken AFM that is keeping my car from starting... I can hear everything firing and turning over just no true ignition.
help

thank you very much.
haha I don't really know what the FP control relay is (fuel pressure relay? so I am not getting any fuel with my broken afm?) but I trust it is the reason why it's not starting.

sure is. you can just take off the black plastic top and make contact with the little metal strip on the other metal strip if you want the pump to be constant on with the ignition key cut back the longer strip so it wont be held back by the arm.

You will find this to be impossible as the 1.8 cars meter air through a hotwire MAF sensor--Not the same thing as a AFM.
There are 2 different circuits which trigger the fuel pump. 1 is activated when you turn the key to start. That circuit is opened when you release the key and it goes to the run position. The 2nd circuit goes through the AFM, and completes when the AFM flapper door is opened. You can jump this circuit at the diagnostic box and putting a wire or paperclip between FP and GND. If your diagnosis is correct, the car would start and run--but probably not very well.
