I could cut a rectangle out for the radiator there too, and channel it, alleviating heat ailments.

reference: Matt Andrews car. He pretty much did that. ummmm somewhere around here there's pictures. or maybe on cr.net. or both. it's neat.

We can get your turnbuckles at Elliot's in Plano..... time to dust off the air tools and build your bracing structure first. I have been eyeing Matt's build for a long time......as you can see by the references to my bumper mods.

I was thinking about making the splitter/tray out of cheap metal or plastic, then taking 1" square turbing and triangulating at the rad support and subframe. I think it might be fairly straight forward, and the hottest shit you've seen in your life. I can sharpen it too and chop off people's ankles.

I want to do a rectangular vent (where matt's says "mazdaspeed") like the c6r:

Gotcha......how far back are you going with the splitter tray? Screw plastic.....you want to cut peoples feet off with that thing. :)

to the steering rack, then bend a lip down, to create even lower pressure.

I don't know how I'm going to attach it to the bumper yet, and make it look cool.

Machismo 07-19-2008 10:47 PM

Easy enough.....build a lip w/ weld nuts and attach to top side of lip of bumper, bumper will be sandwiched in between this lip and your splitter. Mounting pretty much like a R-lip. Should be enough structure beyond to support this.

hustler 07-19-2008 10:49 PM

I need to borrow a TIG.

or I could just do the splitter, cut the r-pack lip in the middle (gasp) and use the begi splitter.

Pay me in beer and teach me some Megasquirtin'.... and I will shear and weld the damn thing for ya! How's that?

I am really liking the Begi splitter.....and I have no quams with cutting up more shit on my Miata.

the r-pack lip is gorgeous though. I don't want to cut it. The bell scooper is cool, but I could make the intake 5x bigger with this set up.

I'll road tune the car with you every step of the way, and maybe you can piggy back on the dyno day with me in august when I tune mine.

Machismo 07-19-2008 10:56 PM

Fair enough...and yes the lip is "pretty". That's why I threw my Home Depot garbage away when I finally found a beat up donor w/ a TDR splitter included.

garden trim. /thread.

/\ Not anymore..... :)

I've used the ABS sheet and an aluminum carpet threshold strip to form the lower curve. No splitter since it was illegal, but the entire assembly weighed maybe 2 lbs., installed with industrial velcro and withstood as much as 120mph race after race. Adding the splitter would obviously require additional bracing and/or stronger/permanent fasteners.
