Anyone have a 1.6L flywheel laying around they can measure?

Curious. Could benefit all of mankind.

Partsgroup dude told me folks modify the 1.6 fly to use with a twin plate clutch. I wanna know if it's possible or plausible.

I need the following dimensions:

crank surface to friction surface, +/-.100" is fine
bolt circle diameter to +/-.030"
outer diameter of friction surface to +/-.030
inner diameter of friction surface to +/-.030

thickness of the flywheel JUST outside the friction surface.. where you'd bolt a clutch to if it didn't have the threaded hole towers. rough dim is fine.

Thanks!

Matt

if I had precision tools I would do it for you on saturday.

y8s 06-06-2007 09:43 PM

what tools do you got?

I have no precision measuring equipment.

so 1/32 is too hard to measure with a ruler?

I don't own a ruler that accurate, but I'll do what I can if the trans gets dropped.

Damn...I just did a 1.6L clutch/flywheel last week...

TurboTim 06-07-2007 08:32 AM

I may be able to do this, lemme see if I can find my 1.6 stuff.

Braineack 06-07-2007 08:45 AM

I had a flywheel laying around all winter you coulda measured

keinayo 06-07-2007 09:27 AM

I think I still have my flywheel sitting in my garage. I will look for it this weekend. If I do, feel free to take it and measure what you need.

Would measurements from a non oem flywheel would suffice?

I guess it depends on what it is. Lets call it "yes if steel"

Yoram: I may take you up on that since you're local.

if anyone else gets it done first, that's cool too.

and I only found out about this like a few days ago!

I have an ACT prolite coming in this weekend if all is well, tell me if you'd need dimensions

y8s 06-12-2007 11:14 AM

bumpity bump bump?

neogenesis2004 06-12-2007 11:21 AM

I have one at home....4 hours away from here :)

shayrgob 06-12-2007 02:13 PM

If I had my caliper I would. I can't find it!...and I have the flywheel sitting here. lol

miatamania 06-12-2007 02:30 PM

I've got my 1.6 laying around that I just changed out...not sure if I have anything that accurate to measure with. and not sure what to measure.

Braineack 06-12-2007 02:49 PM

Matt I might have one by the end of the week....Picking up a short block, might have it still attached.

that7guy 06-12-2007 03:13 PM

I just took my old one out and put in a resurfaced one. If you have the measuring tools we can meet up and you can take what you need. I need to take it back to PBC soon so i can get my exchange $ back soon though

akaryrye 06-12-2007 03:21 PM

K, got some measurements for u, I was not exactly sure what you needed, but hope it helps.
158mm ID of friction surface
276mm OD of friction surface, however there is 117mm of usable material beyond that until the edge of the disc (not counting the teeth obviously) The pressure plate bolts are less than half of an inch inward of the edge of the flywheel. Also I dont have any way to really measure how thick the metal is at the friction surface
