ATI Super Damper problem
Has anyone had a problem with the ATI Damper setting too far back and making the timing belt rub the backing plate on the head?
I have installed the original balancer and the timing belt is fine.

Is there a belt guide attached to the back of it ? There are two sizes available depending on weather or not you're running a timing wheel. FM has both under engine internal parts. Fredb

This is a full engine build
Saturday I removed the ATI damper and installed the original factory damper and reset the timing and all fits the way it should.
so I have narrowed it down.
What is the thickness of the belt guide also post pictures of the guide on the damper. This seems like the only thing it could be. I find it odd that there are hundreds of these out there without an issue and this one isnt working unless it is the wrong parts being used. Have you verified it is the thin belt guide.
part number shows its the right part.....

I'm showing 0.5mm difference when the trigger wheel is not installed, meaning if the trigger wheel was 0.5 mm thinner then there would be 0.5 mm more room on the gear.. Now would that move the belt forward when damper is installed without trigger wheel and would that 0.5 mm be enough to not rub the back plate? I don't know without installing it which I hate to do because it is a pain to remove the damper, but I will do it in the next couple of days. I was just hopping I would get this revolved with the vendor.....
