Autokonexion Vented hood - NO GILLS

http://clubroadster.net/forum/viewto...=179470#179470

I know we aren't a big fan of the guy, but he said if he gets 5 people to pre-pay he'll do the hoods without gills. If I can cough up $450 for this, I will be #2 on the list.

Anyone wanna buy a stock PZ black hood in great condition? :D

Braineack 01-14-2008 08:46 AM

jesus christ. ok guys, here's the deal. this isn't jdm enough, so i need money downz before i do this. keep it on the dl, i dont want to sell too many of these becuase then id be a sell out.

TurboTim 01-14-2008 10:21 AM

Their replacement trunk looks kinda cool, fastback hardtop should look different too. I'd like the hood without the gills.

Splitime 01-14-2008 10:22 AM

I can't wait to see how the hardtop extension turns out.

Arkmage 01-14-2008 10:32 AM

I'd rock one at that price without the gills... but I have to wait. Too many other priorities right now. Besides... I had to cut a large amount of my stock hood bracing to make room for my hotside piping. In order to run that hood I'll too a BEGi re-route (planned) and new hotside piping with the turbo clocked down instead of up.

Newbsauce 01-14-2008 10:33 AM

The hood is silly looking. The trunk is very interesting though, as is the fastback thing.

TurboTim 01-14-2008 11:06 AM

DEI is silly looking too but look how that turned out.

paul 01-14-2008 11:12 AM

i agree with newbsauce about the hood, trunk, and fastback.

I'm in the same boat as you.In order for that hood to fit,I would either need to re-clock my turbo and run new piping(more money) or I would need to trim the hood at the extraction vent, also I would need to get rid of my cold air box(gotta go no matter which route I go) cause the extraction vent would not clear it.

Zabac 01-14-2008 11:45 AM

450? thats high, i got my erebuni CF hood with no silly gilly vents for 300 shipped, i think 450 is a bit too much if he is using fiberglass IMO, but to each his own

Newbsauce 01-14-2008 11:49 AM

My Erebuni, which did require trimming was like 150 or something crazy like that, and my 60 for hood pins (optional) . Cutting a spare hood is even cheaper.. 450 = the fail.

Savington 01-14-2008 02:54 PM

1. I've heard the Erebuni hoods fit like total shit
2. His hoods look like they could be OEM
3. This is the only vented hood whose design I think looks even halfway decent
4. It's hella JDM.

My erebuni fit good, had to trim the vent though because i have the 1.8, i heared they fit the 1.6's good.
anyone tried the autokonexion on a 1.8 cause it looks just like the erebuni one only with gills
i just dont see why he is asking for 450 when the erebuni hoods were cheaper and it looks the same (sans gills) which is what everyone has been saying, no?
here is mine

stock hood chopemupz +1

Loki047 01-14-2008 04:00 PM

where to get the ebruni?

Zabac 01-14-2008 05:02 PM

i just talked to them, they are going out of business and only sell stuff they show on the site, no miata hood though
so autokonexion probably bought their mold and is now making the hoods himself and selling as his design only with gills, wow

Just to relay information because I've been keeping up with the hood project. He actually took a carbon fiber extraction hood that was messed up when the car was wrecked, cut the extraction part out, molded it to the stock hood, and then molded the gills in. Then he had the hoods molded from that. But alot of people have been asking for the hood without the gills.

The price is actually $320 for fiberglass and $420 for CF, plus shipping, which is where the price can go up.

The fit is actually really good according to a couple of people that bought one and relayed feedback. The main extraction vent is far enough back to fit thick radiators, but far enough forward to cover the front of the engine, unlike 1.8s using an Erebuni hood.

Quite an accusation, considering that he has several photos of the main vent molded into a stock hood, and he's also said that the main delay in making the non-gilled hood will be forming a new mold without the gills.

:td:

He didn't accuse anyone or claim any as fact. He supposed a situation based on evidence before him. Stop being a fucking pussy
