Baddd Dayyy!!!!

ok so i was driving to my shop were i came upon this turbo vw he didn't look that tuff but you can never jugde a book by its cover so i started to follow him untill he hit it man that thing was fast i couldn't keep up on low boost so i turned it up and there i was catching up to him, i shifted to 6 and noticed my boost gauge acted weird so i let off and dropped it back to 5 and cruised a second later a hatch 240 flys by me so i couldn't let that happen again so i dropped it down to 4th on high boost and by the time i hit 5th i hear a clinking noise and in my rear view mirror alls i could see was oil and alot of it, i quickly turned off the car and pulled over to the side.. the worst came to mind.."omg dont tell me i blew me engine" i thought to my self stepped out the car, looked at the hood engine bay was cleaned looked under it and there it was the biggest whole i have ever seen. it was on my oil pan went to the other side and it was clear i blew that shit up another whole on the block.. i wasn't too mad about it i kinda knew it was going to blow eventually soo now i have an excuse to build it... thats how my day went today....if any of you guys can help me in the search of finding the parts to build a new engine or anything please help i would really appreciate it..

mike_671 04-29-2008 06:48 AM

sad. i bet that 240sx was like "ooooooooooooooo!!!".

Good luck on the rebuild.

PS: I had to read the story twice to get it because there was some run on sentences.

mx03tb 04-29-2008 06:56 AM

ohh sorry i just typed it like a minute ago didn't bother correcting anything

M-Tuned 04-29-2008 08:14 AM

How much boost were you running and what were you using for fuel/timing?

Loki047 04-29-2008 08:56 AM

What the fuck is going on here?

when most of us blow our motors, we simply lose the rings and some compression. Throwing rods is the work of a true tuner.

MX5-4me 04-29-2008 09:11 AM

Well that's one way to get rid of rotational mass. Who needs those pesky rods anyway?

Ben 04-29-2008 09:15 AM

That's how Mazdaspeed 3/6 motors fail. Deto takes out the wrist pin and piston and/or rod punches through.

Glad I got rid of the Speed 6.

urgaynknowit 04-29-2008 10:32 AM

we need pictures lol

SloS13 04-29-2008 10:35 AM

do the MSM's have the same basic motor as the MSP's? I had one of those throw a rod while I was behind it on the highway. PSA - never let your friend who knows shit about cars adjust your MBC for you.

No.. MSM has an BP in it and i think the MSP has an F-series ..

Zabac 04-29-2008 10:54 AM

Why does this guy not answer real questons???
As Marc said: "How much boost were you running and what were you using for fuel/timing?"

The_Pipefather 04-29-2008 11:02 AM

This is a royal pain to read.

So if another car passes you, you have to race him?

mx03tb 04-29-2008 12:35 PM

lol i was running 10 psi and i had the aem f/ic i think what it was,, was that my bov was broken from when i turboed the car but i never knew it was broken untill i had some friends look at the the day before it blew so i quickly went and changed it and i think that's what threw everything off

Wait.. so your new blow off valve killed your motor? :dunno:

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Braineack 04-29-2008 12:51 PM

Oh shit. You should have known better!!!! New BOVs = thrown rods.

yeah lol i'll have some pics up later on

IcantDo55 04-29-2008 12:53 PM

240 = 1
Miata = 0

cueball1 04-29-2008 01:15 PM

VW = 1
Miata = 0
240 = laugh his ass off

mx03tb 04-29-2008 01:17 PM

lol that's what i was thinking

XxGoKoUxX 04-29-2008 01:50 PM

u told me it spiked up to 15 lbs and kablooey....

Braineack 04-29-2008 01:51 PM

you can understand his garble?

y8s 04-29-2008 02:03 PM

it's just not a sentence unless it begins or ends with "lol". or has "lol" somewhere in between.

Arkmage 04-29-2008 02:09 PM

do yourself a favor... if you spend the money on a built motor ditch the "F/IC I think it was" and get good engine management. Also spend the money to have it professionally tuned or you'll blow up a much more expensive motor.

mx03tb 04-29-2008 02:22 PM

the first time i put on the bov it spiked at 15 then it didn't do again
and yeah i got that

The_Pipefather 04-29-2008 02:24 PM

Ahem...
Yea, that sucks you blew your motor, and that's cool you built a sweet manifold, but you gotta use some basic grammar. Your first post is ridiculous. Come on, just do it. Don't write 30 post explaining how you have the right to be stupid and plan to abuse that right. Just try. Nobody cares if you typo, but when you fail to use any punctuation or capitalize the first word of your new sentence, people ignore you. Granted your two threads now are interesting, but if you were trying to ask for help and typed a huge paragraph with choppy fragments all fused together you'll get more post picking on your lack of grammar than useful post to help you with your problem.

Sincerely,
The grammar Nazi of MT.net.

PS- What size turbo were your running?

cueball1 04-29-2008 06:51 PM

Personally I sympathize with this guy. If my motor puked oil and parts all over the road I'm not sure I'd have the composure to worry about spelling and grammar. A blown motor ruins your day, your bank account and any free time you were planning on for the next month or so.

Of course it is fun to kick a guy when he's down though.

Go buy a 94-97 motor and bolt on your head. Done!

Jesus tap-dancing Christ, people. If you're going to try to pull a Spelling Nazi on someone, at least spend twenty seconds on either Google or Wikipedia first.

ESOL = English for Speakers of Other Languages.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ESOL

JDMAflac 04-29-2008 11:12 PM

Back in elementary school we were taught it stood for English as a Second Language. Keep in mind this was 17 years ago.

fcuk me, i justed clicked your wiki link :bang:

Zabac 04-29-2008 11:29 PM

Nick, I'm with you, here in NC they called it ESL, however, when I lived out west, they called it ESOL...go figure...

StankCheeze 04-30-2008 12:22 AM

This is why we buy high schoolers escorts, folks.

we call it ESL here in california, funny they call it ESOL. Its easier for most foreigners to say ESL anyway

My grammar is impeccable, and I blew up an $800 differential last weekend. :bang:

cueball1 04-30-2008 02:19 AM

Savington makes metal salad out of his dif. MX03 loses engine parts through the block and oil pan. One was on the street and the other at the track but both were racing...

Hmmm....

Maybe our little cars really weren't meant for drag racing. Damn, I was planning on hitting the friday night drags now and then when BEGI finishes my car. Now I've got to start a parts replacement fund since it sounds like stuff is likely to break. Horsepower addiction is the root of all evil.

Look if i wanted to worry about my spelling or grammar, i would of done it from the beginning. I just typed that up to tell you how my day was. I bet you would of done the same thing if it were to happen to you.

Joe Perez 04-30-2008 10:41 AM

God damn fucking retards... You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drown... It's a PC-liberal thing:
"In the US, Canada and Australia, this use of English is called ESL (English as a second language). This term has been criticized on the grounds that many learners already speak more than one language.
(...)
In the UK, Ireland and New Zealand, the term ESL has been replaced by ESOL (English for speakers of other languages)."

i thought the F/IC was a good enough engine management for his car.... :) at least that's what the shop he went to that installed his turbo reccomended... i disagree with it though, dont get me wrong, it may be a nice unit but i'd rather spend 300$ on megasquirt

o okay.... you should have been watching your AFRs..... that's the weirdest thing to ever happen that i've heard.... i've ran 13.8's before and never blew up my motor (not like i do it often, but i use to run blindly without the wideband)

YOU HAVE A WIDEBAND THOUGH, how did you blow it???

Braineack 04-30-2008 02:33 PM

Still no excuse.
I rolled my 96 and somehow walked away unscathed, and still had composure to write what happened in easy-to-understand English.

Arkmage 04-30-2008 09:04 PM

BOV has nothing to do with boost pressure... are you referring to the wastegate? A BOV won't cause a boost spike unless your old unit was leaking and the new one is not.
